I did not intend to be writing this post after this weekend. This past weekend was supposed to be pure fun — Alabama Shakes and exploring Richmond with K and our friends who just moved there. And it was. Alabama Shakes were awesome – such a fun show! N & D are settling in to a great house in the Carytown area of Richmond. They were as always, gracious hosts and we enjoyed a fun late Friday night dinner and an excellent Saturday morning brunch. Then K and I were off (supposedly) to the outlets and IKEA before heading back into DC. We were cruising down I-95 when…bam, flat tire! We were able to make it over to the shoulder safely and K began giving me my unanticipated lesson on how to change a flat.
First, I learned that I actually had one of those cool jack things in my trunk. Huh, who would’ve thought? 🙂 Then, after the car was all lifted up and all the nuts were off the tire, we took that bad boy off and put the new tire on. This part was easy! I can totally do this!
Yeah, check me out, tightening the nuts (I think?) back on the new tire. Go me! I have to say the process was much simpler than I imagined.
Then, fate kicked in. Once we lowered the car, we discovered that my spare tire was flat!! Boo. Luckily, I have AAA and they came quickly to put some much needed air in the tire. Success!
All in all, a good lesson and a great weekend!
