The Fast
Posted on: January 10, 2013
As I mentioned, on Monday I (along with members of CCC, my church) am going to be taking part in a 21 day fast. This is going to be my first time fasting and I’m really looking forward to the experience and drawing closer to the Lord. Essentially, that is the point. I am choosing to partake in the Daniel fast. The Daniel fast comes from the book of Daniel, where Daniel undertook a fruit and vegetable fast. I have some particular prayers I’m believing for and truly think that this 3 week period will allow me some of the clarity to really focus on the Lord.
So what can I eat (which of course, was my first question)? Check out this helpful guide below.
If you are on Pinterest, check out my Daniel Fast board, where I’ve been pining lots of recipe ideas. Honestly, I think I’m most concerned with giving up my morning tea and my afternoon coke zero. I like water, but I love having hot tea during my first few minutes at work while I’m checking my email and settling in.
Have you ever done a fast? What was the hardest part for you?

I’m a big tea drinker too! I’m replacement has been a cup of hot water with lemon. Good luck!
As far as tea goes, you can make ginger tea with lemon. Just steep grated/sliced ginger root with lemon. It’s delicious and totally follows the Daniel fast.

Sounds like a great idea, and not too restrictive to be unhealthy. Instead of tea, try drinking hot water with lemon juice squeezed in it.
