I wrote previously about my experiences at BarMethod DC — trying out my first barre class and the pain of that awesome workout. A few weeks ago, I began reading about a new spin / barre studio opening up about 1.5 miles from my house called Biker Barre. This studio offers both spin and barre classes and schedules the classes so that it is possible to take two in a row. Haha, like I’d ever be in good enough shape to do that. Let me say that these classes kick butt (both spin and barre) and are no joke!
So, after taking barre classes at two different DC studios, you may be wondering which studio I preferred. While I enjoyed classes at both, I have to say that Biker Barre takes the cake for me. For one, the music was great – upbeat and popular top-40 tunes. I know that barre class isn’t Zumba — and I don’t need it to be — but when I’m working so hard my thigh is shaking uncontrollably, I’d like to do it to fun music.
The other thing that made me really feel comfortable at Biker Barre was that I didn’t feel out of place. At Bar Method, I definitely felt like the dunce in the class (even though I’m in generally good shape). The vibe also felt very serious. Whereas, at Biker Barre, folks were chatty before class and not afraid to give a little holler during the challenging moves. I liked that and it made me feel comfortable.
The last thing that Biker Barre has going for it is it’s Eastern Market location. It’s close to my house and really, nothing can beat convenience. Oh, and did I mention the instructors (and owners) are so sweet! I highly recommend either you check it out!
So fun!!! Try the spin classes too, I think you would love them! I have been spinning for a few months now and am addicted…such an incredible workout!
I did – they are awesome 🙂 thanks lady!
