If we’ve met, then you know my love affair with pizza. It is my favorite food. Yes, I love it more than I love bacon. I could eat pizza every day and be happy. It doesn’t even have to be good pizza (although I obviously prefer that it be great pizza, almost any pizza is good pizza to me). Even more than my favorite local pizza joints (Matchbox and Red Rocks, I’m lookin’ at you), I love making my own pizza*. I haven’t advanced to making my own dough yet, but I love using those little balls of dough you find at the market.
Happily, I’m dating a man who loves pizza as much (or almost as much) as I do. So for one of our date nights this week, I decided to make us pizza. I used whole wheat dough, pesto for the base, fresh mozzarella, pepperoni and basil. So easy to create and so delicious. My manfriend has requested that I make this every week forever and ever. That is a request I will gladly honor.
Check out the finished product:
Yeah, it was as good as it looks. YUM!
*Clearly, I’ve made pizza many times, but I’ve never used the whole wheat crust / pesto combo. So I’m counting this as my new recipe this week. It’s my blog, and my list so I can do that 🙂
