This week’s Friday Five will be fun! We’re asking you to tell us about your day – I love reading that kind of stuff. I decided to share my Wednesday with you all, for no particular reason. Can’t wait to read about your day! Oh and before I forget, I’d like to give a special shout out to my friend and co-host Cynthia – because it’s her birthday!!! Yay! Happy birthday, C! Per usual, Iβm linking up with my girls Cynthia and Mar for the #Friday Five. You can read our linkup rules here. Please, please, please follow the rules! Note that if you donβt play nicely, we will delete your link. Have a wonderful weekend!
- Wake up around 8am, read my Bible and throw on my typical work uniform (shorts and a t-shirt – remember I work from home). I get a cup of cereal, a cup of hot tea and fill up my water bottle and head upstairs to my home office to do about an hour of blogging before starting work around 9:30am.
- I work until lunchtime and then it’s time for a walk with my pup and a lunch break. Unless I’m really busy, I try and take 20 minutes to sit at my kitchen table and eat. I usually read while I eat because it’s just what I do. As a kid, my parents hated when I would try and bring books to the dinner table, but I’m an adult now! #IdowhatIwant
- More work because hey, gotta pay the bills. I’ve worked from home since September and I love it. I think I actually work a bit more since it’s always there but I don’t mind because I love what I do (I work for a company that focuses on increasing diversity within the legal sphere and beyond – I’m a lawyer by training).
- Around 5, I head out to Virginia for my track workout. I have a love/hate relationship with track workouts. They really hurt but also really help. Wednesday was particularly hot and humid (about 90 at the time we started working out, felt like 98, I believe) so that wasn’t particularly fun. But we got it done!
- Finally, a run buddy and I headed to Buffalo Wild Wings because the thought of teriyaki chicken wings was the only thing that got me through 6 miles on the track. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
And that was my day. Not super exciting, but I liked it. Can’t wait to hear about a day in your life!
Is your routine pretty set or do your days really vary? My days actually vary a lot but always include a workout, prayer time and a sandwich. π
love this!! haha, “the thought of teriyaki chicken wings was the only thing that got me through’ such truth girl, such truth!

i mean, real talk, right?! it was touch and go there on the track, lol!
I love Buffalo Wild Wings! Haven’t had it in so long, now I’m craving the spicy garlic wings π I love/hate the track, too. It does help, though.

I wish I could have a job when all I do is walk upstairs to my office. That must be so nice. Track workouts are always so rough, especially in this heat, but a great burn.
It is really nice. It’s very convenient to have zero commute!
I just finished writing my post for this and will post it tomorrow (although I understand yours has to be up early so everyone can link to it). Our days are remarkably similar although I start working at 8:00-8:15 each day but yeah I get dressed… and I do a Wednesday track workout and go out afterwards.
It is so important to do things like get dressed and eat away from the computer when you work from home. I can’t work well if I’m wearing pajamas or gym clothes so I just wear shorts and a t-shirt too.

Can’t wait to read your post about your day, lady!! And yes, I agree about getting up during the work day!
OH I wish I could get on a track every once in a while! I don’t think ours are open to the public around here? I’ll have to check. Anyhow, that’s cool that you get to work from home too. I love it…except that I think I eat too much because when I get bored with my work, I wander into the pantry. My weekdays don’t really vary too much but that’s ok because I like them. Have fun at your Saturday Brunch!
Thanks, Diane! We’re really excited about Saturday!
I’d really love to meet you at the track one of these days! Looking forward to Saturday!

Can’t wait to hang! And yes, you should!! I think we’re heading back to Washington and Lee soon, though.
OMG I’m craving BWW now. I miss the days of no kids when I could go out for drinks after workouts and not have to rush home. Have a beer for me, will ya.

You know, I tried really hard to order this cocktail made with cider and they were all out. Sad face. So I just chugged water like crazy π
Looks like a good day to me! My work days look pretty much the same every day as I have a set routine that works for me and gets me to work on time which is important ;-). Have a great Friday!

I loled so hard at that comment about the wings. I do really enjoy hearing about other people’s lives and stories. Thank you for sharing yours!

I’m loving these ‘Day in the Life’ posts! Contrary to how it may seem, it’s not all blogging all the time! I love me some track work too…it hurts soooo good π

I would love to work from home! I hope one day Maryland allows me to do that, but it seems highly unlikely. Ideally one day I can decorate cakes out of my house.
My days vary a lot which can get a little crazy sometimes with never knowing what to expect.
I love track workouts, but they are so hard!
Training pals are the best and a trip to Wild Wings was perfect after your track workout. I have a love hate relationship with the track too, but am always so happy once I have completed a workout. With recovery from my calf injury, my speed is yet to come, but at least I am getting in some miles!

Whatever it takes to get you through a track workout! We sometimes talk about what we will eat after and/or go get it, too. My “day in the life” was a snooze so I did “5 Things I Do Almost Every Day” – I am such a creature of habit!
Have a great weekend!

my days are always kind of mixed up, but will always involve writing of some sort and a snack break. snack breaks are sometimes the only thing that gets me through long spells of working!

Your commute sounds absolutely glorious! While the idea of working from home on a regular basis sounds great, I’m not sure I’d be all too successful with it. Way too many distractions (laundry, chores, etc) that would tempt me to not get my work done!

I didn’t know you are a lawyer by trade! Love the topic this week. My days usually look exactly the same, but I’m so type A that I prefer it that way! TGIF!
Well done on that track workout in that heat!! It has been beating me down lately. Wednesday night’s run was awful. I’m like you too, the promise of food gets me through most of my workouts. Wednesday’s motivation? Fro Yo! Have a great weekend!

you’re so good that you read your Bible every morning. i need to be more consistent with that and make it part of my daily routine. i read some devos and i do my morning prayers on my bike ride to work every day, but i haven’t been so consistent with my Bible. thanks for the reminder!
I also love chicken wings, and if that’s what it takes to survive a gnarly track workout, maybe I should start using that as my motivation.
Have a great weekend, Courtney!

I just found your blog and I’m so excited! I’m a runner and I live in the DC area too π Just moved to Arlington. I did a track workout yesterday BY CHOICE! But there are many days when I am running towards food. On Monday it was ice cream π
Courtney, I love that your day always includes a sandwich!! I am definitely a routine-oriented person and my days don’t vary too much; what I do at work certainly varies from day to day, but my actual day stays close to the same. You are my hero for doing your track workouts at 5pm; there is a local running group that meets at 5:15-5:30 for track work and I’m such a wimp that I only show up to meet them in the fall/winter months – ha! π Way to go, girl! Thanks so much for hosting another great link up and I hope you have a good weekend!

Oh my goodness, you did a track workout when the temps were in the 80s and 90s? MORE POWER TO YOU!!! I have a tough time getting motivated even to do easy runs outdoors when the temp is above 80 degrees. Great job and way to push through!!!

It was not the best…I’m grateful for my training group!
Okay, six miles on the track in 90 degree heat! You earned those wings! Lately, my days have consisted of cleaning up and decluttering my office and closet! It’s almost back-to-school and teaching time for me! Fun times:)

I work from home one or 2 days a week and love it. It gives me extra time, and takes away so much stressed. I don’t think I could do it every day, but at least one day a week changed my life!

Funny, thinking about what I’m going to indulge in gets me through a lot of tough runs! I’m not sure I’m disciplined enough to work from home. I’m envious of those that do. I’m afraid my thoughts would drift to the stuff that needs doing around the house.

You are so right about BWW. My fav is the Parmesan garlic! Sounds like a really nice day. Great you get to work from home!
My days are pretty much the same.
Up at 6:00
Work 7 – 3ish
Home & Dressed to workout by 4ish
Workout until about 6
Dinner, dishes, other housework until 7:30
Check emails, blog/business work 7:30-10:30
I force myself to turn off the computer and hop in the shower at 10:30
Then in bed reading/watching a hour of TV to relax 11-12
Sleep 12-6
Up and at it again the next day.
Monday through Friday are pretty much always like this. CRAZY!!!
So, I nap Saturday and Sunday as a reward!
I love that you work from home. That saves so much time in commute and is just amazing.
That would be my dream.

I admire you for being able to workout after week. Unless I’m going to PB or running w/my group I am BAD at evening runs! Working from home is pretty awesome. π
I love buffalo wings! We just had wings tonight. π That would be a good motivation for completing a track workout. π

It must be so nice to work from home. I would worry that I would be too distracted to work though!
Having a separate office and a solid routine both really help!
