Since this week is a “Free Friday,” I thought I’d do a Day in the Life post. I haven’t done one in awhile and I always enjoy reading them. I’m taking you all through my day this past Monday. It’s pretty standard and not super exciting but that’s my life and I love it. Donโt forget to check out Cynthia and Mar and some of the other folks who link up with us โ and please donโt forget to link to your hosts if you are participating! edit: OOPS! I forgot to announce my winner for the Marathon Map giveaway!! Heidi at Jax and Jewels – you won!! Shoot me an email and I’ll make sure you get your prize ๐
- Wake up before my alarm at 6:15 and get ready for work. Head out the door around 7:15 and arrive at the office at 7:40. Grab my tea, refill my water bottle and respond to some emails. (Note: this was an unusual morning because I didn’t run – it was the day after Shamrock. Most mornings I wake up around 6 and am running by 6:30ish and back home by 8 and then I’m out the door by 8:30).
- Work most of the morning and take a 15 break to update my blogging editorial calendar. The day simply flew by. I had (and always have) a ton of emails and things in the fire so usually days go by quickly. I work as a Diversity & Inclusion Manager at a large law firm and really love my job. It can be easy for me to let work totally consume me so taking a break here and there helps me stay fresh.
- Break for lunch. Today, I was supposed to take one of our associates to lunch in an effort to get to know folks at the office better. However, she had to cancel so I ran out and grabbed something for lunch. I usually bring my lunch unless I’m eating with someone else in order to save money and just be healthier.
- Leave the office around 5pm so I can make a 5:35pm Pure Barre class. This was also unusual. I usually stay at the office until at least 6pm but I was so tired after last weekend that I wanted to get home early. Plus I got to work very early so I felt fine about leaving early. Pure Barre was great as usual and helped to stretch out my sore muscles post race.
- Home by 7pm, dinner, House of Cards and an early bedtime! I’ve been doing a slow release of House of Cards – one or two episodes a night and I’m really enjoying this season.
What’s your typical routine?
Now that it’s warmer out i’ve been trying to get home earlier and spend more time outside! I am also taking advantage of the extra time and just trying to relax a bit too!
My kids are on break right now, so I slept really late today. It was glorious. We’ll be back to the early wake ups and late nights in a few days though.

My routine changes throughout the day but I usually wake up around 4:30am to either meet a client or to run on my own. Then it’s home to get the kids ready for school and out the door to get back to work around 9:00am. Then it’s clients, back home for after-school stuff, dinner and bed. If I don’t run in the morning, I run either before or after dinner, depending on what we’re doing. I lead a really glamorous life ๐

I need to do these linkups again too! Lately I have been sleeping in a bit and going to work later, mostly just to get some extra rest while I can because soon I’ll have to run in the mornings because it gets hot here. when I worked in the office, I usually packed a lunch too, it saved a LOT of money.
I would love to hear more about your job! I have a very routine routine, starting with a 4:39 am alarm (to be my husband to the bathroom)!

Let’s run one morning and I’ll tell you all about it ๐
haven’t linked up in a while, but I”m so happy to be back. Love to hear about your barre classes. I have been wanting to get back to a class myself, but just haven’t got the time.
My mother in law will be here in May, so I have already arranged for lot of studio and class time.
It’s interesting to see what other’s days are like. Mine changes depending on days I work or not. Also, my kiddos were on Spring Break this week so it changed. It was nice to spend more time with them. ๐

I’m impressed by anyone who can wake up early and run – I’m all about the after work workouts and getting a bit more sleep in the mornings!
I enjoy reading these day in the life posts, thanks for sharing! I’m usually up at 5am and depending on where/if I’m working that day I do my morning workout then head to work. If I’m not working I walk the dogs with my husband and have coffee and breakfast with him before he leaves for work-as of lately some days it’s the only time we get to spend together!
My days change constantly since I am not working outside the home. However, I do ten to have the same activities several days of week, such as my group runs and volunteering. We also enjoy House of Cards and just started to watch Parenting!
As you know, my recent routine is about to change since I’m going back to work on Monday. My alarm will be going off at 4am so that I can get myself ready and feed little man before I have to be out the door. I’m not looking forward to that early alarm…

lots of the moms in our group go out for the early runs-so impressive! I need to wake up and have some coffee first. The hubs is binge watching house of cards I think he’s almost done

I have to wake up early or else it just won’t get done. ๐
I love Day in the Life posts. I mean blogging is definitely a way of sharing your life with others. But the day in the life gives that snapshot that adds in time details that people don’t know. ๐ We have pretty much the same daily schedule too.
Yes, I always love reading these posts ๐ I’m nosy!!
I love the Day in the Life posts! It’s fun to get a glimpse into other people’s lives. Like you, I always work out in the morning before I go to work. And I”m usually in bed by 9 (reading)….

It’s nice to hear about your routine! During the week my alarm goes off at 5, I may do some blogging and sometimes I go to work to be there at 6 or 7 am. Work til 3:30 or 4:30, then either work out or go for a run, dinner in the evening, and try to chill before bed!

Love that you get off early — I’d rather go in early as well but my boss is an hour behind me so that doesn’t work as well.
We have a similar routine! I’m usually up around 6, out for my run (or to the gym if strength training), quick walk for Rusty, make myself breakfast, then out the door by 8:30. I’m also loooooooving this season of HOC, it’s so juicy!

Great post! I can see you being perfect as a Diversity & Inclusion manager. I used to be on the Diversity & Respectful Workplace council at my previous job and it was truly a passion of mine!
Have a great weekend and happy Easter!

Oops I missed Free again and did Fitness. We just started watching House of Cards season 4, too! So much trickery and such good acting. Have a good weekend!
I love reading day-in-the-life posts too! So you only spend 15 minutes on blogging in a day? Is that typical? I just finished episode 4 of House of Cards last night–whew! What a doozy!

No, that was just that particular day. I probably now spend about 30-1 hour on an average day. Usually drafting while commuting and adding in pics and stuff at night. But I’m trying to work ahead so I try to devote much more time to it on the weekends, which doesn’t always happen!
Impressed you have shown restraint with HOC. We finished it in a weekend lol ๐ (at least it wasn’t straight). What time do you usually go to sleep? I want to get in a better routine of getting to bed earlier so I can wake up to run (now sunlight is earlier).
i try to get in bed by 10pm at the latest, so i can be asleep by 10:30ish. i generally don’t last too much longer after that!
My routine is normally 7-4 at work since I am an early bird, then I workout once I get home. I know I could workout in the mornings since I up before 6, but the traffic is horrendous in the afternoon, and leaving work at 4 gives me time to get home before things get too hectic and congested.
I’m impressed you manage to wake up to work out before work! I generally have to do post-work workouts during the work week. But that’s also because I generally prefer to get to work early so it fits better that way. I’m still on season 1 of House of Cards.

As a morning runner, I like to come straight home after work and then don’t leave the house. I’m physically and mentally done by then. I’d hate to admit how much time is spent on blogging.
so happy you’re loving your new job! we still need lunch/dinner/drinks to catch up!

It is pretty awesome — kind of crazy but awesome ๐ As I’m sure you can imagine ๐
I am not a morning person… and have a very hard time getting out of bed, so early morning runs just don’t happen. I like evening runs after work… it is a challenge during winter when it gets darker earlier, but I am fortunate enough to be able to flex my schedule a bit to allow me to leave early on running nights.
It’s fun to peek into your “A Day in the Life” post. A normal day for me? Is there a normal?? I honestly can’t figure out if I’m in training, taper or recovery with the races I’ve been doing. One thing is routine. I work 8:30 to 5:00, 5 days a week. Everything else well is anyone’s guess. Thanks Courtney for the link up, I hope you have a great weekend!
Sounds like a good day! I ran around and chased after kids and dogs all week. Zzzzzz!
What a fun idea! – I don’t really have a “typical” day, but…
Today I got up around 7:30, was ready to head out the door by 8:30. Went downstairs to grab a coffee with my fantastic hubby, then went off to work. Got to work at 9:00, and was out of the office by 1:00. I’m working the rest of the day from home! And, the big news, I’m starting my own blog! So I’m currently using you as inspiration to get my blogging butt in gear ๐
woohoo! i’m super excited about your blogging adventures –let’s talk more!!! Yay!
I love Day in the Life posts! Your job sounds really interesting and rewarding! My routine has been constantly changing with my internships and my last semester of grad school. I’m looking forward to starting my job in August so I can start a real routine when I’m out and truly on my own!
Sounds like a busy day! I don’t have a typical day because somedays I see clients super early, so my workouts, etc. are mid-day, and other days my clients are spread out so I get out and run before I start seeing them.
Thanks for the linkup!

I love day in the life posts. I will need to do one soon !
I was thinking you worked from home…. for some reason I didn’t realize you went into the office every day. Double bravo for all the running you do and working the hours you do !
I guess I need to do one of these one day! My days aren’t terribly exciting either, but they are somewhat varied, with the freedom of not working.
It’s great that you love your job! I’ve had a few I loved in the beginning . . . they always seem to end badly, somehow, though.
