Almond Milk, Berries + Oats Smoothie

June 19, 2013 By: project30in201210 Comments

I have recently become obsessed with almond milk. I was scared to try it (not sure why) but I recently picked up some and discovered that it is delicious! I’ve been using it in my overnight oats and decided that I love it so much I should create a smoothie with it.

I’ve never made my own smoothie but I’ve been pinning a heck of a lot of smoothie recipes lately. I decided to just use the ingredients I had in the house for this one because I’m trying to wait to go to the grocery store until this weekend. So I used:

  • Half a package of frozen mixed berries
  • A cup of your favorite almond milk (or any milk, really)
  • 1/2 cup of your favorite brand of oats

How simple is that? If you are craving some sweetness, you can add honey or a bit of cinnamon to your smoothie. I added a dash of both and it was delicious!

I highly recommend this easy, quick and healthy smoothie. You can have it for breakfast or just for a treat. I had a small portion for a post dinner treat and then had a full smoothie for breakfast the next day. It keeps well overnight although I did wait to add the honey and cinnamon until right before I was eating it. I will definitely be making this again!

Do you make your own smoothies? What is your favorite recipe?

I LOVE almond milk! I’ve never thought of putting oats in my smoothies, but I bet that it would be a good way to keep me full until lunch. 🙂

Yes, definitely! I think next time I will also add a bit of flaxseed, which will definitely help to keep you full!

That looks delicious! I don’t eat dairy so I drink almond milk, but I do miss yogurt in smoothies. I’ll have to give this one a try!
