Welcome to my monthly series where I share my blog stats and income with you. I was inspired to do this because I know of some bigger bloggers (like Pinch of Yum) who share their blog stats and income but I really didn’t see any smaller bloggers (like me! and maybe you!) who do so. I figured if I was looking for something like this, others might be as well, so I decided that I’d start sharing my monthly stats and income. Here’s my April blog stats and income report – I hope you find this helpful (you can find March’s report here)!
Ad income: 41.03 (BlogHer) + 11.31 (Adsense) = 52.34
Affiliate income: 75
Total April income: $127.34
Total April pageviews: 14,370
April saw both my pageviews and income drop a bit in comparison to March. I knew that my income would drop because March was my best month yet on income and just saw a lot of sponsored posts payout. One good thing that I’m excited by is that I’ve made the most I’ve ever made in terms of ad income in April. I’m a bit disappointed that my pageviews dropped a little bit but I’m actually trying to focus less on pageviews and more on simply improving my blog and my writing. To that end, I’m in the midst of working my way through old blog posts to update them (graphics and content). It is a bear of a task and I will report periodically on my progress. Just thought I’d also point out that if you are seeing up and down traffic (like I am) – don’t be discouraged. While it’s really fun to see the numbers go up, traffic often ebbs and flows during the year and a couple of down months shouldn’t be cause for concern.
Tell me, do you spend a lot of time looking at your traffic?
P.S. Are you reading this and thinking, “hmmm, I should start a blog!” If you are thinking it, then you are right! Read this post to help you get started and start a blog in three easy steps!
I’ve always thought the quality of your writing has been great, so no worries there!
thank you meranda! that means a lot. i’m working on a lot of my older posts, which are not nearly as well written as my more recent ones 🙂
thanks for sharing always interesting. I don’t spend that much time looking at my stats but do see some up and downs. I also have some old content I could re post good idea.

yeah, i’m trying to make sure my older posts are up to the same quality standards i have now. most of them…are not 🙂
I would consider that a great month for ad income! And I don’t find your ads obtrusive at all either….I just stopped doing the “skin style” ads because they I hated the way they looked on my site, but I know they are a good moneymaker. I do check my stats, but I try not to obsess. I had a post promoted by an advertiser so it went a little crazy in April, making my numbers look good for awhile and then they went back to normal(ish). I think focusing on great content is a great way to judge progress!

thanks kate! i’m currently taking a blogging course and of course, we’re talking a lot about how content is key! 🙂
i read somewhere about certain months being overall less page views and reading (for everyone). I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about it. I always enjoy reading how open and honest your posts are!

thanks hollie! i’m not really worried about it – i know it ebbs and flows throughout the year 🙂
Courtney, I think your blog content is great; you have a wonderful way with words, my dear! I don’t watch the overall traffic too much, but I do find it interesting that some days there are many more views than others; I usually attribute this to the spam people – ha! 😉 Hope you have a great day, friend!

thanks, tara – that means a lot!
Great post as always! I check my stays but don’t worry too much about dips. Around holidays and when the weather gets nicer I think folks enjoy more desire time. I’m actually thinking of doing a summer series where I revive old posts that may not have gotten much love or attention before I started to grow

Ugh, hot mess of typos!! That was *stats and *downtime geez… not desire.

yeah, i agree. people are out and about, as they should be! 🙂
Thanks again Courtney for posting your income reports! I am also updating old posts. I’ve had my blog since 2009, but it was just a static site of dry sounding articles I had written for other sites. The content is good, but engagement wise they are horrible!
And I do check my traffic waaaay too much! I should delete the app from my phone! Lol.

Check out tomorrow’s post – I stopped checking my stats for one week – and then wrote about it 🙂
I love hearing how other bloggers have monetized their sites. I always learn something or get ideas from income reports.
I should probably look at my stats more, but I am so illiterate I need to brush up on what they all mean!
I love your blog content 🙂 I want to lock myself in my room one weekend and go on a marathon – post refresh! Need to update some pins as well.

As always, love this series! That is some great ad income!

I’ve been updating some of my older content as I’ve added new coaching and weight management tabs to my menu, and linking to older posts. Once I get started, I get so busy that suddenly I realize that three hours have passed! So much to do – yet so enjoyable!

that’s awesome. i could definitely spend SO much time on the blog if i allowed myself too!
Hey Courtney,
Been looking over your income reports for the last couple of months as I am putting together a big list of them on my blog.
Would love to see your May numbers so I can include them in my roundup. Maybe you can let me know when you publish them?
Thanks
Raj
Hi Raj, I publish at the end of each month so come back then!
