B&A Trail Half Marathon Training Recap, Week 4

January 1, 2017 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC21 Comments

Happy New Year! I hope everyone welcomed in 2017 safely and with loved ones. We were home watching football (Roll Tide!) and I have to say, NYE in sweats is kinda my jam! Anyway, on the this week’s training recap. Each week during this training cycle (I’m training for the B&A Trail Half Marathon – a relatively small, rails to trail half in March), I will share how my training went and what the week looked like. I do this because: 1) I love reading about how other folks train and 2) it’s great for me to have a record of what I did each week. Also, honestly, it helps keep me accountable when I know I’ll be writing about it. I also post almost all of my runs on Instagram as well. I’m starting a weekly link up for  Training Recaps – let’s support each other as we train this winter! Please do link up!

B&A Trail Half Training Recap

Monday: An easy five miles in the early evening. I much prefer running in the morning but it got done.

Tuesday: The track was closed so I did my speed work on the trail instead. It was 55 degrees and I hit all my paces for my 4×1200 repeats.

Wednesday: Pure Barre.

Thursday: Tempo Thursday! My friend Leeanne joined me to help me pace my tempo run. The average pace was around 8:25, which is much better than previous weeks – I wasn’t running too fast and feeling like I was going to pass out! Success. I also went to Pure Barre.

Friday: Easy five with friends!

Saturday: No rain or ice on a long run, yay! Ten really solid miles on New Year’s Eve.

Sunday: Happy New Year! I woke up not really wanting to run but got in a handful of miles anyway. Because that’s what it’s about, right? 3.5 easy.

Total mileage for the week: 37.15 miles

Total mileage for the year: 3.5 miles

Total mileage for this training cycle: 127.05 miles

Have a lovely day and be sure to link up if you are training!

My training should start today but between having company and wanting to put my holiday decorations away, I think my run is gonna be missed.

I love running on rails to trails. I hope it’s a nice course for your half! Happy new Year Courtney!

Happy New Year Meranda! I think the course has one hill but is otherwise pretty solid 🙂

We also spent NYE in our pajamas, it was the best! That 6am alarm sucked this morning, but I decided to suck it up and work out anyway. Not training for anything, just getting my health back 😉

I love spending NYE in my jammies! With a wine glass in hand. So perfect.

    Happy New Year!

Happy new year! I always stay in, but we have our own “party” complete with appetizers and dressing up…and then I struggle to stay up until midnight, of course! Here’s to a great year for both of us!

That’s a fun idea! The past two years my football team has played so that’s been the main attraction 🙂 Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! You are doing so well in your training!! Tomorrow I get to do 4×1200. Fun.

Oh, and I keep seeing your picture with your distance shorts and they look so cute! Part of me wants to buy them but I love my long rogas.

The long rogas are nice but the distance shorts have pockets that can hold my phone!

What a fun way to ring in the new year! I wish I had a running buddy to help motivate me. Luckily I can turn to the web and find all the motivation I need!

Courtney, I told you those tempo paces would get easier…WAY TO GO!!! It sounds like, even though conditions were not ideal, you had a great training week. Great job!

Solid week of training, as usual! I’m always so impressed at how often you go to Barre. I am always crazy sore after and can only handle 1x a week, though I go pretty sporadically. Congrats to your team!

I try to go 2 times a week, but sometimes it’s just 1 – so I think your 1x a week is just awesome!

Happy new year! We almost had the same training week! different workout on tuesday and different week number/goal race distance. But kinda neat! I’m determined to try a Barre class this year. 🙂
