B&A Trail Half Training Recap, Week 12

February 26, 2017 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC24 Comments

Hi friends. This week’s recap will be short and sweet. I am ready for this race – and ready for a little downtime before marathon training begins. As you know, each week during this training cycle (I’m training for the B&A Trail Half Marathon – a relatively small, rails to trail half in March), I will share how my training went and what the week looked like. I do this because: 1) I love reading about how other folks train and 2) it’s great for me to have a record of what I did each week. Also, honestly, it helps keep me accountable when I know I’ll be writing about it. I also post almost all of my runs on Instagram as well. I’ve started a weekly link up for Training Recaps – let’s support each other as we train this winter! Please do link up!

B&A Trail Half Training Recap

Monday: 5 easy miles to start the week.

Tuesday: I had an awesome workout. Caitlin rode her bike while I ran and it worked out great. I did 3×2 mile repeats. Each set of 2 mile repeats averaged 8:17/8:14/8:17. Ended up with 8.3 miles for the day and felt very strong.

Wednesday: Pure Barre class!

Thursday: 4 tempo-isn miles over lunch. It was HOT out there!

Friday: Another easy 5 miles – this time running with Caitlin.

Happy FriYay, y’all! 5 easy miles around the Hill to start the day.

A post shared by Courtney (@eatprayrundc) on Feb 24, 2017 at 5:18am PST

Saturday: Back with my Saturday run group gals. Also – ran in a tank top and shorts and it felt like summer. Crazy! Just under ten miles for the day.

Sunday: Easy 8 miles with Deb to close out the week.

Total mileage for the week: 40.32 miles

Total mileage for the year: 262.03 miles

Total mileage for this training cycle: 385.58 miles

Can you believe March is basically here? This year is flying by!

Great mileage! I loved the warm weather this week, and of course it was snowing today. Typical!

Yeah, our weather dropped 30 degrees in less than 24 hours. Mother Nature…

Already told you I love the Friday pic…but I’ll say it again. I’m a little envious that you achieved your goal early and the pressure is off for the upcoming race..although I also know how much harder it is to stay motivated once you’ve hit a goal. It’s not a bad problem to have, though. Have a good week!

True. Not a bad problem to have but just a bit tricky to navigate. But now, with just a few weeks left, I’m in the home stretch!

Great mileage and great weather for it. It was beautiful here this week and I wish I could have run, but alas… injury. Best wishes in your training and your race which is coming up soon!

I really admire your dedication to your strength training while you are rehabbing. Not surprising because you were just as dedicated in your running. Can’t wait to see you back out there!

You put in hard work week after week so it definitely makes sense that you’re looking forward to this cycle being over and moving on to the next goal. The weather this week was insane! I actually kind of like winter running and cold weather, but I’m enjoying the break this year and the warmer weather we’ve been having!

Thanks – the good thing about running these faster paces is that I can get my workouts done quicker! Hahaha, it’ll be harder when I’m marathon training and running a bit slower 🙂

Great mileage this week and great paces too! Had a rather warm but windy run on Sunday, first time in a while running in crops and T-shirt. LOVED IT! Back to rain today though! :/

I can’t believe you all are wearing shorts and tanks on the east coast and here in Southern CA it’s cold and rainy! We did not receive our usual February heat wave.
Looks like you had a great week of training, you are rocking those speed workouts!

Love the picture in front of the Capitol! How fun that you get to run through there! I was up there twice for trips last year and really enjoyed my runs! Great job Courtney on a solid week of running!:)

You get to see so many cool things out on your runs! We are thinking about going to DC for Spring Break, or a summer vacation this year. Looking forward to seeing all of the sights.

awesome milage! This winter has been the BEST for running. How did we get so lucky? I hope it stays like this forever! I am just going to pretend this is not due to climate change or anything scary!
