Bachelor Update

January 24, 2013 By: project30in20121 Comment

As you know, I’m a big fan of The Bachelor. I was particularly excited this season because our bachelor Sean has the most diverse group of women the show has seen ( including a women with an amputated arm and 4 women of color). We are a few weeks into the new season and I’m pleased that the show hasn’t shied away from discussions of race. Obviously we are talking about The Bachelor, so don’t expect any high brow content here, but Robyn (one of the black contestants) asked Sean directly how he feels about dating a variety of women. Sean’s answer was genuine and simple: he said he has always dated women of all ethnic backgrounds, and in fact, his last girlfriend was black. I did some research (obviously) and he previously dated former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Ryan Ray. There she is – she looks cute, I wonder why it didn’t work out?

I’m really enjoying this season, mostly because Sean seems like a normal, genuinely nice guy. My personal favorites are Desiree, both Leslies, and Sarah (especially now that they’ve stopped showing her talking about her arm every five seconds). Who are you pulling for this season? Do you think we’ll ever see a Bachelor or Bachelorette of color?
