Eek – the Berlin Marathon is really closely approaching and I am so excited! 14 weeks down and I am feeling good. Aside from my brief calf scare, training has gone really well and I am feeling motivated and strong. Only 6 more hard workouts before the taper! I can.not.wait. The Hanson plan only does a 10 day taper, but it works out well and by the time I get to taper, I really feel like I’ve earned it. This past week, we had a break in the weather starting on Thursday and it made for some really nice runs. Here’s how the week shook out.
Saturday: 16 miles! This was my 3rd 16 mile run of the season. I will run one more 16 mile run and then run a half marathon as a trial run for the race and then I’ll just about be at taper time. We ran the big Arlington loop and this loop ends on the hill of Custis. I was happy to feel strong throughout.
Do you have a long run loop that you only run once or twice a year? That’s the Arlington loop for me!
