Best Christmas Ever?

December 11, 2012 By: project30in20121 Comment

Day 11 of 31 Days of Project 30!

What was your best Christmas ever? I’ve had so many good ones and Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, so I always enjoy it. I love absolutely everything from Christmas, from the music (Mariah Carey and Kenny G Christmas albums for the win!) to the lights and decorations, to the reason for the season (Jesus!), to the family time and more. While I’ve had Christmas in some pretty awesome places…

AND will be having Christmas in another awesome place this year…

I think I most enjoy just having the family all home at my parents’ house. Having everyone under the same roof is the best. I can spend QT with my babies, catch up with my parents and play endless games of Monopoly and Scrabble with my sister and brother in law. Plus, I get to stay in sweat pants all day.

Christmas looks a bit different now than when I was younger, but a few things have stayed the same. I’m almost always the first one awake. I always had trouble falling asleep on Christmas Eve when I was a kid (and by kid, I mean until I was 21) and I always wake up early. Around the age 0f 18, however, my folks introduced a loosely followed rule that I can’t wake them up until 8am. Now that I’m 30, I usually wake up around then anyways, so it works out well. I’ll putter around downstairs, checking out the presents that have magically arrived overnight. I make note of the size of everyone’s gift pile because it is my self appointed duty to hand out gifts. A part of that job means that I distribute the gifts so that no one feels left out by opening their gifts too fast. Basically, it means I get to play Santa on Christmas morning. Fun! 🙂 After the gifts have been opened, there’s breakfast and then for this girl, there is a nap. It’s pretty exhausting waking up early and entertaining the fam — I’ve got to make sure I’m fully rested before the next meal / nap cycle. 🙂

What is your favorite way to spend Christmas?

P.S. If you are looking for something awesome to do this weekend, come check out Cap City Christmas! CCC, my awesome church, is hosting it’s Christmas show this year and it’s going to be great! I’ll be there all weekend – hope to see some of you there 🙂
