Blogger Tip Tuesday: Creating Images with Canva

April 29, 2014 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC16 Comments

Have you heard of Canva yet? If you ever create images for social media or a blog, then you should. I blogged awhile ago about how Pic Monkey is great for editing images – and it is. However, if you are creating images for your blog, you need to check out Canva – I first learned about Canva through Michelle at A Dish of Daily Life. Creating images with Canva is easy – read on for a quick tutorial.

All about Canva

When you first start your design at Canva.com, you’ll see that you can choose to work with a design that has predetermined dimensions or set your own dimensions.

I usually work from a social media preset design or a blog graphic preset design and what’s cool about Canva is there are templates you can work from or you can start from scratch.

After choosing a template or starting from a background, you create your design. Canva is free, but some design elements are $1. You can easily create hundreds (probably thousands) of designs without spending anything but if you’d like to use a stock photo or whatnot, you can find a great option through Canva for only $1. Recently, Canva has added a new Pinterest template which I’m eager to play around with!

Honestly, I’ve had so much fun playing around with Canva and creating different designs and I think that if you are looking to up your game with your images, you’ll enjoy using it as well. I have to warn you, though — when I first started playing around with Canva, I lost about an hour playing around with design. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

What do you use to create your blog images?

Thanks for the introduction to Canva. I’ve always used my Picture It program on my PC and then switched to Pic monkey cus it was So easy. Do you know of an editing app you can do on your phone?

I use camera+, instagram and picstitch on my phone. But for images for my blog I use picmonkey or canva!

Thanks for introducing me to Canva. I can’t wait to check it out. I’ve only been using Picmonkey, but it doesn’t hurt to have choices.

Check it out — you won’t regret it. I still use Picmonkey if I’m editing photos but creating an image from scratch? Canva is the way to go!

I’ve used it a couple of times but admittedly need to spend more time figuring it out! I’m used to Picmonkey now so I use that primarily.

I love Canva. I just figured out that you even can use the $1 images for free if you don’t mind the Canva watermark. You can see that in this post: http://got2run4me.com/2014/04/28/pomegranate-blueberry-juice/
