I have had lots of bloggers ask me my opinion on how many days they should post, so I thought I’d open it up on the blog. I typically post 5 days a week, but that’s because I’ve worked out a system that allows me to do so (more on this on a future Blogger Tip Tuesday). So how many days a week should you post?
To be frank, I don’t think it matters how many days you post (within reason). I think it’s most important that you figure out how many days you can post consistently and work from there. Lots of bloggers find that posting 3 days a week is a good compromise for them. I would say that if you are just starting out, try posting 2-3 days a week. Be consistent with those days and see how it works into your schedule. If, after a couple months of posting a few days a week, you are ready to add another day of posts, go for it.
Think about your favorite blogs. Chances are they all have different posting schedules. I truly think it’s much more important to be consistent with whatever posting schedule you set and not worry about how many days you are posting each week. Bottom line: if you are just starting out, post 2-3 days a week and see how that works for you. Adjust as necessary but keep consistency as a priority!
How many days a week do you blog?
3 – Mon, Wed, Fri. That’s really all I have time for with working and making sure my content is good and that I’m able to respond and reply to others comments!

I hear you – I usually have time to respond to comments but have to set aside dedicated time to read others’ blogs.
I give bloggers who blog more than 2 days a week a lot of credit, shoot, I give bloggers credit in general! I only blog ONCE a week, and sometimes that’s even too much for me! LOL. I think as long as you an get yourself on a schedule though, and your readers know when you’re going to post, you should be just fine 🙂

I agree – the most important thing is to be on a schedule!
I think it is individual and also based on the type of content you are writing. I like posting 3-4 times a week. I would rather post less and network more because I can’t do both due to my schedule. I also like to give my readers time to read my post so I post MWF and Sunday. I would be interested in polling my readers to see what they prefer.

I never post on weekends, but I’m considering moving my Thursday post to Sundays – it’s a great day for blog traffic!
We started blogging 3 days a week, but as new bloggers we felt we had to make more connections so we upped it to 5 days ( as long as we have good content to support it, which I hope our readers think we do) and weekends off. Blogging is exhausting though so I do hope to start cutting back on some days, but I don’t know which ones…haha.

Do you guys use an editorial calendar to help plan your posts? It helps, I promise!
I blog everyday, but I also have a lifestyle blog, so there is usually something to write about. It also helps that I do a few weekly posts that make it so I only have to come up with 4 other topics weekly.

That is super helpful!
When I first started I posted about 3-4x per week, then advanced to once every day. Now I have my schedule down to 2x a day Mon-Thurs and once on Fridays. I have gotten a lot more readership and loyal readers this way! I try to make sure my content is relevant though, and not just writing for the sake of writing. I have an idea notebook where I write down blog post ideas as they come to me, so for now, I have a lot of posts brewing 🙂

Very interesting – I don’t know many folks who blog 2x a day!
I blog pretty much when I have something to say or there is something I’m thinking about. Some weeks it’s more, some weeks it’s less. I’ve tried to have a schedule – Manicure Mondays, Wardrobe Wednesdays, but it doesn’t always work out.

A couple of blogs I read post multiple times a day, and it works for them! I tend to write when I have something to say. I try to get in at least twice a week, but if it’s not there, I’m not going to force crap on my readers haha!

When I started blogging, I posted whenever I had something to say and/or had the time to sit down and blog. I wasn’t consistent, and I noticed that being inconsistent with my writing wasn’t resulting in the readership and interaction that I was desiring. With this year’s crazy winter and the number of snow days I’ve had, I’ve found more time to write recently, which increased my blog posting by early January from an average of 1-2 times a week to 3-4 times per week. A couple of weeks ago, I started planning out my posts on Google Calendar, instead of just keeping a running list of blog ideas on my iPad. Using the calendar has helped immensely, and has aided in pushing me to writing 5 posts a week for the past couple of weeks. I’ve also gotten into a habit of drafting most of my blog posts over the weekend, so that during the week I just have to edit them and schedule them to publish. This routine has helped me immensely! I’m hoping to be able to keep this up, but that’ll only happen if I’m able to keep coming up with as many ideas for posts as I’ve had lately!

One of my mini goals have been to post 2-3x a week consistently. I’ve outlined topics/themes on my Google Calendar (thanks for your BTT editorial post this past fall) and have loads of posts in draft form. Unfortunately, sometimes work ends up consuming most of my free time depending on the project. Right now it is finding the right balance to post consistently – I think I will get it eventually 🙂

I’m a 3/week girl if I can manage it. If not, I don’t sweat it. I’m not trying to “go somewhere” with my blog, if that makes sense. It really is just an outlet for me!

I hear you — it’s only fun if it fits into your life 🙂
I think it totally depends on how much time you have, and probably how organised you are! At the moment I’m managing three days a week, but over the course of the last five years I’ve varied between five and two…
