Checking out Green Spoon

June 26, 2014 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC15 Comments

Through my Fit Foodie Ambassadorship (is that a word??), I was able to try out Green Spoon, a local meal delivery service here in the DC area. What is Green Spoon?

The Green Spoon uses local sustainable food sources to prepare and deliver gourmet quality meals. We are bridging the gap to provide access to the freshest local food sources that have been traditionally restricted due to cost and convenience.

I had a quick conversation with a Green Spoon associate (although you can just order easily online), and arranged for my meals to be delivered! Delivery was pretty easy and the driver texted when he was on the way. There was a bit of confusion because the driver didn’t have my office suite number, but once that was taken care of, it was very easy. The food came with instructions on how to reheat it — you could stick in the oven for a few minutes or microwave it. The meals all tasted fresh and I could tell that the ingredients were of good quality. The orange chicken with bok choy and quinoa was a favorite — SO tasty!

I shared a few of my meals with a coworker and K. Both gave the meals rave reviews — I wanted to make sure that my love for Green Spoon wasn’t a fluke — turns out it wasn’t. My coworker in particular loved her grilled salmon with avocado salad. She liked the slightly spicy flavor of the salad and fish and the hint of lime as well. I mean, come on…doesn’t that look good?

If you are in the DC area, you should definitely check out Green Spoon for meal delivery! See below for their delivery map. This was my very first time using a meal delivery service and it was surprisingly easy AND (more importantly) very tasty. I also love that Green Spoon sources local, organic ingredients whenever possible.

Have you ever used a meal delivery service?

lunch is sized for one, dinners are (in theory) sized for two but k ate a whole dinner himself. i could eat about half a dinner sized portion.
