Right after I finished the Shamrock Half Marathon (recap here), I realized that the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler was in two weeks. I decided that I would continue my training recaps as I look towards Cherry Blossom. My rough plan is to run easy – keep it light in training and then race Cherry Blossom in an effort to snag a new ten mile PR (I set a ten mile PR while running Shamrock, but that doesn’t count!). I’m sharing what I did in terms of workouts in between Shamrock and Cherry Blossom here! Read on more for details (and yes, I was able to PR the 10 miler, though it was touch and go there with the weather!).
Monday: Pure Barre!
Tuesday: About 4.5 miles with Caitlin. Lovely weather and first run in my new Oiselle Hole Punch Lux Sweater. Loved it!
Wednesday: Pure Barre!
Thursday: Speedy 3.25 mile run in the morning, and then I saw Meb that night! Super fun! He was in town to run the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler and gave a very nice talk at Potomac River Running in Arlington that evening. He is so humble and funny and just nice. It was awesome to get a chance to meet him – such a hero!
Friday: A very active day! Ran 2(ish) miles for Pure Barre Run Club then took class and then ran the Crystal City 5k easy that evening. Good times. Total of 5.34 for the day.
Saturday: Easy 2 miles to packet pick up for the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler.
Sunday: Cherry Blossom Ten Miler! Love this race! My recap is coming later this week so make sure to come back to read all about it! Short story – the weather was crazy – about 34 at the start with 25pmh winds and gusts up to 50mph. When I woke up on Sunday, my weather app informed that the wind advisory was still in effect. It wasn’t awesome, but I did manage to pull off a PR. More details later this week!
Total mileage for the week: 25
Total mileage for the year: 421.23 miles
