Happy Friday! I am off to Southern Bird Camp this weekend and so excited. Southern Bird Camp is one of the regional running camps that Oiselle organizes for its team. I’m headed to North Carolina for a weekend of rainy running fun and can’t wait! Check back in next week for some updates and follow me on Instagram to see all the fun! Anyway, this week we are talking favorites and I thought I’d share five favorite fitness classes – other than Pure Barre. If you follow me on Instagram or actually know me, you’ll know that I love Pure Barre. It’s totally my jam. However, I do like trying other studios now and again and so I thought I’d share a few I’ve liked recently. Don’t forget to check out Cynthia and Mar and some of the other folks who link up with us – and please don’t forget to link to your hosts if you are participating!
- Spin classes. I’ve chosen to list type of class rather than studio because they have been a lot of different studios that I’ve liked over the years. I’ve always enjoyed spinning and if I didn’t love Pure Barre so much, I’d definitely spin more.
- Pilates classes. I love pilates. I find it to be a great workout and relaxing at the same time. I always leave feeling centered and ready to focus on whatever is to come in my day or week.
- Boxing classes. I haven’t taken a boxing class in a few years but before I started racing as much as I do now, I took a boxing class a few times a week. It was intense. Lots of push ups, lots of sparring with the instructor and I even have my own pair of gloves. It was an amazing workout and a ton of fun.
- Hot yoga. I am generally not a big fan of yoga. I find it challenging to focus and just awkward. However, I have liked the hot yoga classes that I’ve taken – go figure. I’m not sure why I enjoy hot yoga more but I do!
- HIIT classes. I love high intensity interval training classes. These studios seem to be popping up everywhere and they are fun! I just took one of these classes at a new studio here in DC called BLAST and I’ll be sharing more about that soon!
What’s your favorite type of fitness class?
I used to love HIIT classes, and sometimes still do, but these days I’m all about Pilates and stretch classes… I think I’m getting old, haha!
These all sound like such awesome fitness classes! My gym offers a ton of different classes and I’m always trying out new ones to see what I like. The barre class they offer on Saturdays actually isn’t that bad considering it’s not as fancy as Barre3! Have fun at Bird Camp this weekend!
I tried out Orangetheory last week and it was awesome! I’m horrible about doing anything resembling spadework or weights and this made me do both in a very efficient one hour. (And it involved running, so you know I loved that LOL).

I do love spinning and hot yoga and now Orange Theory. Still not a fan of Pure Barre, though! 😉
Haha, that’s okay I love it enough for both of us 🙂
I enjoy Orange Theory Fitness, but probably my favorite classes are Yoga although I don’t get there as often as I would like to.
We are total opposites — I find Pilates challenging (but like it) & love yoga, but have never tried hot yoga! Mainly because I work out at home.
I’ve actually wanted to try some new fitness classes but I’m worried that I’ll be too sore for running. HAHA, that is the worst reason not to try them right? My plan is to actually get to some in the near future.
I love spin classes and I am so happy that finally they are coming out of the club and into their own. I don’t belong to a fitness club so the only time I could partake is if a friend took me to their club!
Love all of these, and each for different reasons. They push me in a new way each time, plus while I know how to do them, it is nice to have someone kick MY but for a change!
I am also a fan of all of the above (except I like my hot yoga not soooo hot!) I take Pilates one on one (reformer) so I don’t do mat classes much. And, I haven’t developed a love for barre but my friend is getting a Pure Barre franchise so I will give it another try.
Have an awesome time at Bird Camp!!!
Have a great time at bird camp! I’m sure it will be an amazing experience!

Wish you were here!!!
My sister just started hot yoga. Sounds like fun!
I have a limited selection of fitness classes in my little corner of the Iowa cornfields. I haven’t been to a yoga class for several months (my bad), but I do it on my own (somewhat). I’ve only been to one spinning class…it was a challenge, but fun!
It’s awesome you have such great fitness classes to choose from. I am a huge fan of Zumba! Also, spin kicked my ass when I used to take those classes! I haven’t been to a class in a really long time.

I used to do spin and Pilates, and I’ll still do Pilates at home as part of my “on my own PT.” There are some really good movements, and taking them slowly helps me focus on what I am strengthening and doing it right. One workout I love and don’t do enough of is the Iron Strength workout I got from Runner’s World. It’s a great way to mix things up if I take a weekend off from PB.
I’m planning on trying out some new classes this Summer. That includes spin classes as I still haven’t given that a try. There are so many options in the area for that now.

Have a great time at Bird Camp! I love hot yoga and though I haven’t done spin for a loooong time I do adore it!
I’ve got to get back in spin classes I do enjoy them I think the most. I’ve never taken a pilates class though which is weird because my trainer teaches it. I’m looking forward to trying some new things this summer.
As always thank you for hosting the link up!

I used to love spinning and Zumba. This summer I’ll be trying new classes. Have fun this weekend!
Oooh! A boxing class would be super-fun! I love the couple kickboxing/boxing workout dvds I have!
I love fitness classes! I am a fan of yoga but need to take more time out to schedule classes more frequently. I used to love cardio kickboxing too.

I haven’t done a boxing class, although years and years ago when getting into fitness I tried some kickboxing classes. I would love to do that now though. And the HIIT workouts I do at home would be SO fun in a class! Love me your other three though!!!
