Filling out my Race Calendar

May 10, 2013 By: project30in201214 Comments

If you’ve checked out my Races page (and you should!), you’ll see that I have a big huge gap between my May 19 10k and my October 20 1/2 marathon. I’m currently looking for some races right in the middle of that time. I would love to add a couple of races ideally 10ks or 10 Milers (I’ve decided that I LOVE 10 Milers!) in June or July. This summer is shaping up to be pretty busy with weddings, birthday parties and the like, so I want a race that is a convenient drive from DC. This is where my blogging family come in handy.

Tell me what races you are running this summer — what races you are thinking about and what races I should think about. I’m particularly fond of Saturday races – I hate missing church! Below are a couple races I’m pondering…has anyone ran them previously??

XTERRA Big Elk 1/2 Marathon

1/2 Sauer 1/2 Kraut (this sounds hilarious and kind of scary!)

What else should I add to this list? Help a girl out 🙂

We are looking into the American Mud Run in Chesapeake on June 29. Not very long, but looks fun! My sister actually is the one who wants to do it!

I’ve heard of the 1/2 Sauer 1/2 Kraut – that’d be worth doing on titel alone!! But, the Baltimore 10 miler is June 15 if you are looking for close and that distance.

I’m actually in a wedding the weekend of June 15th or else I’d do Lawyers Have a Heart that weekend. I’m seriously looking into Zooma on the 1st of June…

Lawyers is weekend of June 8, Baltimore 10 is June 15. I’m thinking about ZOOMA as well but I have a busy week that weekend!

Oh you’re right — I’m in Chicago the 8th (knew there was a reason I was out both those weekends!). I’m leaning towards doing the 10k for Zooma — let me know what you decide!!

I will – may be a last minute call for me. Doing a half the weekend before then moving the day before. Ugh. Did it last year and LOVED it.

I was going to say Lawyers Have Heart June 8. I don’t race much in the summer but there’s a fun, low-key 8K in Arlington on July 4th that I usually do, put on by the Potomac Valley Track Club.

In July there is a 10K in Waynesboro, VA. Great course, lovely race crew. If you are looking for a half, there is one in Hanover County VA the end of August.
