Eek – marathon training starts tomorrow, y’all! The great thing is that I have a build up period – which will be helpful as I acclimate to the DC humidity. Woof. As you may remember, I will still be running (and even doing a couple of races) in between now and when I start training for the Berlin Marathon. But I’ll primarily be focused on cross training and keeping my base level of running up. I’m running a few days a week before training gets going in a couple of weeks. In that spirit, I will continue to enjoy all of your training recaps, so please do keep linking up! This is a low-key link up, but if you participate regularly, link back to this blog. Now on to the maintenance training recap!
Monday: 2.6 mile run commute home. Easy and relaxing at the end of a long work day.
Tuesday: 3.5 easy miles in the morning before work. I realized that marathon training actually starts a week sooner than I thought. Oops!
Wednesday: 6am Pure Barre to celebrate my buddy Jen’s birthday!
Thursday: rest
Friday: rest
Saturday: 7 miles with my Saturday training group. And then, a fitness crawl. 3 studios – barre, pilates and then bootcamp. 30 minutes each. Super fun but pretty exhausting! A great day!
Sunday: Capitol Hill Classic 10k! This is my local 10k – it starts about 6 blocks from my home and we had a number of Oiselle gals running. I paced my friend Jen to a big PR and had a blast!!
Total mileage for the week: 19.71 miles
Total mileage for the year: 490.78 miles
Marathon training is starting y’all! And no…I know that I still need to share what my plans are for this cycle. It’s coming!
Next week the training recap will officially be a Berlin training recap – open to all training for any race, of course. Anyone else starting their marathon training??

so exciting! I am just heading into maintenance before marathon training, and I couldnt be happier. Glad that you were able to take this time to prepare yourself for marathon training. All the best as you start your next training cycle.
thanks – I REALLY enjoyed my time not training. It helped me to reset mentally and now I’m ready for tough training. I think 🙂
Sounds like another great week of workouts! You has a hella busy day on Saturday, but that fitness crawl sounds like so much fun! I would love to do something like that in my city. That’s so awesome that you were able to pace a friend to a PR today!
I also start marathon training tomorrow – yikes!
Woohoo!! Here we go 🙂 congrats on your race!
Excited to read your post about your plans for Berlin. And I am also excited to read about your training.
Excited to get going!
I”m excited to follow you and Marcia as you guys prepare for Berlin! So exciting!
I’m so excited. Race day is in 18 weeks!!!
Exciting!!! Yes, I love how Hansons eases you into training, so you have plenty of time to acclimate to the unique joys of summer training. I love the idea of a fitness crawl. Did you do it on your own or was it something the studios put together?
No it was organized by volunteers from Girls on the Run. So great!!
Last week’s heat wave was an unwelcome surprise! Love the Oiselle team pic! Sounds like it was a fun race.
It was. I always love it because it’s my neighborhood race!
Wow, I can’t believe it’s already marathon training time! Looking forward to following! Oh and your fitness crawl looked so fun, I wish we had events like that in Philly!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets recently posted…Buffalo Half Marathon Training Week 8 Recap
The fitness crawl was a fundraiser organized by Girls on the Run volunteers – you could totally do one in Philly!
Congrats to your friend on her 10K PR! I’m glad you had a great week and it’s really fun that you can run commute. 2.6 miles seems like a great distance for that too- with morning/afternoon you end up getting in just over 5 miles but neither would be a really taxing run. Nothing like realizing your training starts earlier than you thought, but I think you will do amazing :).
Hahaha, yeah I’m just glad I realized that so I didn’t miss anything, ha!
Good luck as your marathon training starts and congrats on pacing your friend to a PR! Ugh, the humidity! It is vicious already. I’m in the south by the coast and it. is. miserable.
Yay! Training starts. I love training for marathons (now about actually running a marathon…LOL). I’m looking forward to your training. I’m very interested in Hanson’s. I’m considering using it for Boston. The Fitness Crawl sounds fun!
