Run.Eat.Drink. The Fit Foodie 5K is here!

May 18, 2015 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC42 Comments

One of my favorite race experiences from last year is back and I’m so excited to be a part of it again. Cooking Light and Health’s Fit Foodie 5K Race Weekend is returning to Fairfax (just a few minutes outside of DC) on June 19-21 and I hope you’ll join me! What is the Fit Foodie 5K Race Weekend all about?

all about the fit foodie 5k weekend

The concept of the Fit Foodie was born out of the idea that a healthy lifestyle and delicious culinary experiences don’t have to be separate. Calories burned, calories earned, right?? Life is about balance and working hard so that you can indulge in those things that you are passionate about. When delicious food, working out, and good friends are all combined, it is a beautiful culmination of all that life has to offer.

The Fit Foodie 5K Weekend is jam-packed with celebrity chef tastings, cooking and fitness demonstrations, yoga sessions, and a Power Systems fitness bootcamp, all led by celebrity trainers and fitness experts. Also expect to rub elbows with editors and contributors from Cooking Light and Health magazines who will be on hand to share tips and tricks for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, as well as celebrity fitness expert Patrick Goudeau.

I participated as a Fit Foodie Ambassador last year (read more about the fun we had here, here and here) and was thrilled to have the chance to partner with this awesome group again. This was such a fun mini girls getaway (note: it’s open to women but all my buddies happened to be ladies last year!) and if you are local, I encourage you to sign up. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with a VIP Party with delicious bites from local chefs (this year RJ Cooper from Gypsy Soul and Rogue 24 will be there!), cocktails (and mocktails) and editors from both Cooking Light and Health magazines. We had a blast at the VIP Party last year and I’m thrilled to hit it up again this year (with my girls Mar, Lauren, Erika and Kathryn!). Saturday is the 5k and then tons of fun afterwards at the finisher’s village. Yes, tons of fun = more food and wine. I know, I’m so predicatable πŸ™‚ Finally, the weekend closes on Sunday with a 60 minute sweat session with Tracy Anderson (!!!!) and then brunch. Followed by a nap (at least that’s what I’ll be doing!).

This was such a fun event and I hope you’ll join me. Use code EATPRAYRUN to save 10% off registration!

update: I’m giving away two registrations for you and a friend over on my Facebook page. Check it out!

Have you ever done a race that is all about food? Are you local and running this one?

This sounds like a very fun event. I’m racing elsewhere that weekend but will have to look at their schedule. I’ve considered some novelty events like the “beer mile” (think I would throw up) or the Krispy Kreme challenge (proably would also throw up), but haven’t actually done one. Thanks for sharing!

It looked like you all had a blast last summer (I was doing another race) and this year we are going to be away. Oh well maybe next year. Too bad bc it is just minutes from my house. I love the Mosaic area.
