Hello and thank goodness we made it to the end of another week! December is here, holiday decorations are everywhere and I love it! Regardless of how you feel about the holidays, I hope we can all agree how we feel about vacations – they are amazing and we should all take more, am I right? This week, we’re talking bucket list vacations and oh how I wish I was on one right now! Per usual, I’m linking up with my girls Cynthia and Mar for the #Friday Five on this holiday weekend. You can read our linkup rules here. Also don’t forget my first three gift guides of the season are live – here (online gifts), here (foodies) and here (for the person who has everything). Happy weekending!
- South Africa – this one has always been on my list. I’d love to see the Big Five and just explore this incredible place.
- Thailand – some friends of ours just got back from Thailand and their pictures were incredible. I want to go to there (bonus points if you know where that phrase came from!)
- Bora Bora – oh yeah. I mean have you seen pictures of this place? If you haven’t, go google Bora Bora right now. You are welcome. This is probably the most bucket list choice on this list since it can be very expensive both to get there and to stay there. But still, gotta have goals, right?
- Iceland – this is the year of Iceland amongst my friends. I know so many who have gone this year and have just had an amazing time. It didn’t take much convincing for me to realize that Iceland definitely deserves a spot on my list!
- Punta Cana – I can’t leave out our honeymoon locale – especially because this time a year ago we were there! It was so lovely and another the Dominican Republic has some human rights issues that would keep me from going back right now, I’m optimistically looking to go back again – maybe for our fifth anniversary or something similar!
What’s on your list of bucket list vacations? Have you been to any of the places on my list?
Bora Bora. Yes. You had me at Bora Bora. Great list for relaxing vacations!

hello, right?!?!? 🙂
I have a student this year who is from Thailand so I am slowly learning more about their culture! Definitely interesting!
oh that’s awesome. i would LOVE to visit!
bora bora looks amazing!!
Iceland is so amazing. My college boyfriend went to Reykjavik and had the best experience. I was so jealous after seeing his pictures and hearing all about the trip.
Bora Bora is on my bucket list too, but I’m afraid it’s just too far out of my budget to make a reality. And being so close to Panama with similar amenities really doesn’t make it worth the extra $$$. Although, it looks breathtaking.

bora bora is definitely a BIG bucket list item 🙂
I have not been to any of those amazing-sounding places you listed. When I was researching running vacations though, I did see that there is one in Iceland! Vacation and Running all rolled into one scenic experience!
Great list! I haven’t been to any of those places, but would love to go! I would love to especially go to Bora Bora!! I’ve heard great things about Thailand too and love Thai food!

Iceland has those thermal pools though… 🙂
Wow, you have quite the exotic list! I have been to Bangkok, but like much of my travel it was for business so I didn’t get to do much exploring. Hope you get to make these trips someday!

I’ve actually been to Thailand when I was a lot younger. It’s really nice! My husband was just in Iceland a few months ago too. I want to go to New Zealand personally!

We went to S Africa for our 10th wedding anniversary in 2012. It was AMAZING. Big 5, Capetown, wine country, the food. AMAZING. Definitely GO!

I never thought about Iceland, but I know it’s better than Greenland 🙂 I think it would be fun to go in the summer and have long days with the sunlight.

It’s hard to just pick five! But, when it comes to dreamy tropical locations, Bora Bora is at the top of the list!

I love that you have dreams of returning to your honeymoon spot for an anniversary trip. We had hopes of returning to Hawaii for our 5th anniversary this coming summer. But since we’ll have a seven month old at that time next July, our return trip to Hawaii will likely have to wait for another time.

Oh man, all of these sound amazing. I am in serious need of a vacation! My husband and I last took a week-long vacation over a year ago to Punta Cana. That is too long :-(. I would LOVE to go to Hawaii and Greece as well as Bora Bora. Have a lovely weekend!

I want to go to Bora Bora so bad! Hilton has a property there and my husband works for Hilton, so I told him we should save that place up for an anniversary trip. We’re going to Cabo in March and I’m excited about that. My parents have been to Thailand and LOVED it! Italy is also on my bucket list, and I want to go back to Santorini in Greece!

One of my dream vacations is Australia and New Zealand. I would love to do Iceland. We had a layover in Iceland on our way to Paris, it looked beautiful. My parents wen there for a week over the summer and they fell in love with it too. Great choices!
I never would of thought of Iceland!
What a great list! I’ve had some friend/family who have visited Iceland and South Africa over the last year, which made me really want to visit. My coworker went to South Africa back in February, and swam with sharks!

I haven’t gone anywhere yet really, but I dream of:
1. Hiking the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim.
2. Ziplining in the CostaRican rain forest.
3. Biking the Tuscan country side.
4. Paris and London via chunnel.
5. The Greek islands.
