My Five Favorite TV Shows This Season

March 17, 2016 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC38 Comments

Hi folks! We are talking about favorites this week on the Friday Five and I’m going to share my five favorite TV shows this season. I love TV but just don’t have a lot of free time these days so I’m usually late on episodes and watching when I have a free hour here and there. I thought I’d share my five favorite tv shows this season. There are more that could be added (ahem Bachelor – although I still haven’t watched the finale yet – this week was nuts) but I tried to stick with five. Don’t forget to check out Cynthia and Mar and some of the other folks who link up with us – and please don’t forget to link to your hosts if you are participating!

Five TV Shows I'm Loving Now

  1. Amazing Race. I have loved this show for years and I continue to enjoy it. I actually secretly (except not secretly) want to go on the show. Maybe some day!
  2. American Crime. I missed the first season but was intrigued by the second (which ended a couple of weeks ago). This show was absolutely fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. It also made me think, which I always appreciate. I recommend it, but be forewarned that it’s heavy.
  3. House of Cards. I’m about half way through the 4th season and loving it. There are truly so many awful characters and the show doesn’t paint a great picture of DC but given the current political climate, it’s really not that far off base.
  4. The Goldbergs. Oh my word. Hilarious. If you are just looking to laugh (quite loudly and very frequently) you need to watch this show. So crazy funny and it’s a perfect throwback to the 80s! I love it so.
  5. Blackish. The episode about all of the racial unrest really sealed the deal for me. It was so well done and just truly incredible. Blackish is normally hilarious and this episode had it’s funny moments but was so dang touching and real that it’s a must see. You can watch the episode I’m referencing here.

What shows are you loving this season? And no spoilers because I am inevitably BEHIND in each of these shows! 🙂

I watched Blackish a few times when it came out and really liked it! I haven’t watched it in a few months or seen the episode you’re referencing but maybe I will check that one out now. I’ve seen a few episodes of The Goldbergs and it’s pretty funny too, I just need to get into it and watch some more!

I don’t get a chance to watch TV much, but I have heard good things about Blackish & House of Cards, so will have to check them out. I could always use a good laugh, so maybe next time I’m on my bike trainer I will look for an episode of the Goldberg’s. Have a Great Week 🙂

I LOVED that episode of Black-ish so so much! But I also love the whole series, I actually laugh out loud every week.
and the Goldbergs-SO FUNNY! The 80s references are the best

I’ve been really enjoying Grey’s lately. I thought the last couple of seasons were so-so but this season seems better.

I LOVE the Goldbergs and Blackish. And yes, that episode was fantastic. We were glued to our seats, I’m still hanging on with Grey’s Anatomy. Nashville is another favorite. I guess ABC has me!

It’s funny because all of my favorite TV shows have just starting airing again. It gives me something to watch when running inside I suppose.

I just started watching House of Cards-it’s so good, especially during long rides on the cycle trainer. I still tune into Grey’s Anatomy every Thursday and I love The Daily Show.

I watched Goldbergs for the first time the other night (well, I say watched, but I was in a whole foods eating and reading the subtitles) but I though it was so clever and funny even that way. I’ll need to check out the others!

I also love House of Cards and Amazing Race. While Tom has grown tired of AR, I still watch every week to see what places they go and where we have been. My sister would love to go on the show too! Have a great race on Sunday

We haven’t started House of Cards 4th season yet. I watched one Goldbergs – I need to give it more of a chance. I have never seen a single Amazing Race episode. Can you believe that?!

I don’t watch any of those shows! I hear you on being behind; we have a Tivo so we tape & then watch at our leisure.

I think Quantico may be the only new show I watched this season. Oh wait, that’s not true, I really loved Shades of Blue too!

American Crime intrigued me too, but I have trouble keeping up with the shows I watch now, so I don’t add too many.

I have never watched any of the shows you mentioned! Though I do love two other CBS reality tv game shows- Survivor and Big Brother! I read so many books on the OJ case. I think the trial is sooooo fascinating.

I’m hanging on to my shows because one is ending after the next season, and a major cast member is leaving another one. Plus, CBS is moving Elementary to Sundays. What? I’m running out of shows and am turning to shows on DVD more and more.

I love Blackish, HOC and the Amazing Race. This year AR is going to the Republic of Georgia – where I visited a couple years ago, excited to see where they end up going. Blackish…oh boy Diane is a riot. I had no idea American Crime returned, will need to watch this season. I started watching Billions which was really good and look forward to the new season of Polo and Narcos on Netflix.

Love love love Amazing Race and House of Cards. I am behind on the current season of TAR and the past 2 of HoC. I need to devote treadmill time to get caught up. But there is no better role for Kevin Spacey than Frank Underwood. He is awesome.

I loved the first season of American Crime but didn’t realize the second season already started. I’ll have to catch it on Netflix!

My favorite TV show right now is … Once Upon A Time. I love how inventive the writers are with bringing together so many much-loved fairytale characters and stories!

I’ve been watching the new season of House of Cards too. So good! I usually don’t watch regular TV, even after we got cable for the first time in 13 years. Ever since I recently discovered that we have HGTV, that’s literally all I watch! Well, that and stuff on Netflix like House of Cards.

I’m super far behind on House of Cards, so I guess it’s just got to go next on my list.

I’m loving Jane the Virgin right now. It’s simple, fun & lighthearted, so it’s something I don’t have to devote much mental energy to, which is why it sometimes wins out over things like House of Cards.

We always watch the Amazing Race! We actually have some friends of ours who do not have cable who come over to watch it with us every week. It’s a great time and a great way to get together outside of the office (it’s our Pastor/my Boss and his family).
I’ve never watched any of the other shows. Blackish sounds good, I may have to go check that one out.

I’ve loved Anthony Anderson since he played Jim Carrey’s son on Me Myself and Irene. He’s a funny dude. And Tracey Ellis Ross is a pretty funny lady too. Overall, that show is paired perfectly on Wednesdays with Modern Family. Fantastic writing.
