Happy Friday, y’all! We did this back in February but have gained so many new participants, that we thought it’d be fun to do this again…five things about me! Per usual, I’m linking up with Mar and Cynthia and we are all pretty pumped about this week’s topic! Enjoy and make sure to link up your Friday Five post. You can read our linkup rules here. Please note that if you don’t play nicely, we will delete your link.
- I am extremely Type A. Like, always using a spreadsheet, always on a schedule Type A. If you know me in real life, you know this, because, well I don’t hide it well (not that I think it should be hidden — I just think sometimes I can be a bit…intense). It’s pretty ironic because as Type A as I am, K is the EXACT opposite. The old saying is true…
- I attended 3 high schools in 2 states. As the daughter of a military man, moving was nothing special. My first two years of high school were in Alabama, where I attended two different magnet schools. Then we moved to Maryland, where I spent my junior and senior years of high school. While it was tough to move, I think it helped to make me into the well rounded person I am today. 🙂
- I ran hurdles in high school. Not particularly well, but I did okay in a few 300 meter hurdle races. I don’t know how I got started running hurdles (especially at my height) but it was fun and while it terrified me, I enjoyed it. Of course, I’d be way too nervous to try and jump a hurdle today — I’d probably break my neck.
- My favorite song to dance to at a wedding is “Shout!” Who doesn’t love this song? Seriously — it’s SO much fun and I can’t get enough of it.
- My television habits rival that of a 13 year old girl. The Challenge on MTV, Pretty Little Liars, Disney movies – love it all! And I’m not ashamed, haha! I know I’m not alone — who’s with me??? I’m behind on PLL — no spoilers, please 🙂
Don’t forget to link up!
Hurdles, wow! I saw a competition recently on TV and was just awed by the womens’ field. Cool that it terrified you but you enjoyed it…seems like that set the stage for you to do things outside your comfort zone. (maybe the family moves helped, having to adjust to that…my DH moved a lot as a kid, he & I have different approaches in some things because of it)
M @readeatwriterun recently posted…Five Things About Me – Summer Movies
yes – being a military brat really helped with that!
I am with you on Type A! I love a good spreadsheet… singular.. I mean a workbook of spreadsheets! I secretly (not so secretly) want to check out Pretty Little Liars, my younger sister talks about it alot.
Jennifer recently posted…Friday Five – Things About Me II
spreadsheets for the win! and you should def check out PLL 🙂
I love this post! Thanks for giving an “inside peak” to you! Enjoy your weekend 🙂

thanks amber! it was fun to write! 🙂
I’m type A, but since I never learned Excel I don’t do spreadsheets. 🙂
Coco recently posted…Five Things About Me
lol – i know basic excel…nothing fancy 🙂
I’m also Type A, and actually wrote about that in my post today as well. I don’t know what I’d do without my spreadsheets!

i loved your post! and your spreadsheet for moving!
Great list. Fun to learn more about you.
John @ run. geek. run(disney) recently posted…Five Things About Me
thanks! it’s fun to share 🙂
I have always been impressed with those who did the hurdles! I’ve never tried it but I would imagine I wouldn’t be very good at it since I am so short!
Meranda@fairytalesandfitness recently posted…Labradors do the darndest things……..
i’m 5’2 and did it! not that i was super good 🙂
I’m a recovering type A personality 🙂 I’ve definitely let it go a lot since finishing up with school.
Chaitali recently posted…Friday five – things about me
i hear kids takes away some of that type a-ness. not that i would know 🙂
I’m also a little type A except once you have kids it turns into an A- (LOL). Love it that your tv is the same as my kids! Happy Friday
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner recently posted…Friday Five things about me…
lol — i’ve heard that about being type a with kids! 🙂
I’m so type A, and my hubby is the opposite too! It helps us wives to not spontaneously combust!
Alyson @Disney Runs in the Family recently posted…Friday Five: Five Things About Me!
totally true!
Im with you on 4 AND 5!
“a little bit softer now…”
I’m with you on #1! I’m a project manager so I get plan, make schedules, etc. for work and for fun, woo-hoo!
Jennifer @ Running on Lentils recently posted…Five Things About Me
aw, now that’s an awesome way to make your type A qualities work for you!
Wow running hurdles sounds scarey and exciting! My TV habits are very similar to you. I love to watch ABC family, Disney movies, and The CW but surprisingly enough I do not watch PLL! I think I have watched one episode.
Meghan @MegRoach recently posted…Friday Five- June 27th
it was lots of fun, but sometimes terrifying!
I love the Challenge on MTV. I’m not ashamed. Secretly, I wanted to be on the show Road Rules when it was on it’s second season. I auditioned with a couple friends and even made a call back, but I guess I wasn’t crazy enough for tv because I didn’t get a second call back. I love competition shows like that. I’m a big fan of the bad boys like CT & Bananas!!!
Haley @ running with diapers recently posted…Friday Five – Things About Me
haha, CT is my fav, as well! that’s crazy that you made the call back. i used to want to be on real world when i was younger. now? i could NEVER live w/all those crazies!! 🙂
I m type A and my hubby is the exact opposite.
Darlene recently posted…Friday Five: 5 things about me
that does seem to be the way it goes.
Ahhh I did the hurdles too!!! I loved the 100m HH but i was never fast but I always had fun doing it 🙂 Senior year I got into the 800m and 3000m and never looked back 🙂
yay hurdles girls!! the 300m hurdles was my favorite!
I’m the opposite of type A (does that make me a lazy sloth?) Just found your blog on the Sweat Pink ambassador group–fellow runner 🙂
Nicole @ myfitfamily recently posted…Mom-spiration: Pamela
nope, it def doesn’t…it takes the more relaxed folks to help balance us type As out!
Type A personalities unite!! I bet you don’t have a junk drawer either (see my Friday Five), lol!
Julia @ Vegas Mother Runner recently posted…The Friday Five Link Up!
BTW, I found your blog through Lauren at Run Salt Run. Fun group of ladies you all are!
Julia @ Vegas Mother Runner recently posted…The Friday Five Link Up!
LOL. no real “junk drawer” but i do have cluttered spots in the house, just well hidden.
I’m right there with you when it comes to TV – I’m all about Big Brother in the summer!
Michelle @ SFTS recently posted…Friday Five: Five Things About Me
i do not watch big brother but it’s my big sister’s FAV show. she’s kind of obsessed with it.
I’ll sit & watch all those shows with you myself 🙂
Rebecca Jo recently posted…Friday Five: 5 things about me
yay!! they are so fun 🙂
When my husband got home from work last night I was watching Peppa Pig and Betty was NOT awake. SO yeah…more like toddler TV prefs than teenaged haha!
I love that you ran hurdles! The thought of hurdles terrifies me. 🙂
Lauren recently posted…Friday Five: Five things you will probably wish you didn’t know about me.
you’d actually probably be really good at the hurdles!
Oh man can’t believe you ran hurdles! So impressive and terrifying! And I am right there with you on loving the teen TV. I also love young adult fiction. Like I totally was reading the Twilight books before they became movies 🙂
Amanda H recently posted…Five Awesome Things
oh yes — YA is my new reading category of choice. 🙂 i read twilight, hunger games, divergent…all of them.
#4, really? 😉 though I spend my Saturday mornings drinking coffee, watching Spongebob and blogging 🙂

I would have to say I watch a lot of tv that teenagers would love too. lol Lots os reality tv here!
Samantha @ Food Fitness Family Friends recently posted…Friday Five: Five Thing You Might Not Know About Me!
nothing wrong with teeny bopper tv in my humble opinion! 🙂
Sorry I didn’t get to link up today, so focused on switching the blog. Amazed that you could run hurdles, I’m very impressed 🙂

Total Type A here as well! I hate being late (and when others are late)–that’s my biggest pet peeve
Helly recently posted…Friday Five–More Random Stuff About Me
oh i HATE being late – ughhhhhhhhhhh!
I love that I am not the only adult who loves kids shows:) I seriously used to love Wizards of Waverly, LOL I am always watching the new Disney channel movies, yes I am a dork. Oh and I invite my nieces and nephews to the movies purely so I don’t have to go watch all the kids movies alone:) too funny:)
Pretty cool about the hurdles too! I ran just about every distance in track, but never the hurdles I seriously can’t jump I would just get banged up. So I admire anyone who could/can do those!
Kristy @Runaway Bridal Planner recently posted…Five Things About Me
My favorite wedding movie is YMCA and Macarena and even if I am in my forties I listen to dance music. Lady Gaga is great !
Karen – Fit in France recently posted…Friday Five : Five things about me
music knows no age in my mind! 🙂
I love this link up idea! I’m so glad you guys started it up.
It’s not quite the same, but I love the CW TV shows, which are definitely a younger group of attractive people than my demographic. And I don’t care!
Hurdles scare the crap out of me. Maybe because I’m so short and it feels like an awfully high jump.
Judith recently posted…Five Things About Me
the hurdles were definitely scary…there’s no way i could do that today!
Great topic this week to get to know about other people in the linkup.
I’m the complete opposite of a Type A person, I’m so completely unorganized it would probably bug you, haha!
I love Disney everything too and I’m not afraid to say it!
Laura recently posted…Friday Five // About The Girl Behind The Blog
thanks for linking up — for some reason, i can’t find the comment box on your blog — i see everyone elses’ but can’t leave a comment 🙁
Oh, weird! Not had anyone with that problem. I hope its just a glitch :/
Laura recently posted…Friday Five // About The Girl Behind The Blog
OMG! I watch the WORST TV! I’m right there with ya! I’ve been out with an injury for almost 6 weeks and I have started watching even more (oh so good) junk. “True Tori” anyone?
Alyson recently posted…Friday Five: Five Things About Me!
lol – i gave up cable so none of those shows, but i have plenty to keep me busy!
I’m with you on PLL!!! And I’m also behind on the episodes. I started a few weeks ago on Netflix, and I’m midway through season 3 right now 🙂
Karen recently posted…Friday Five: Five things about me
it gets SO crazy — enjoy 🙂
I am a type A, as well!! I am not ashamed of it either, I have accepted it and use it to my advantage 🙂
I too watch Disney movies (even before I had my son) ! I love them !
I watched the most recent Challenge as well, mostly because my hubby watches it and i always end up watching it too!
Lindsey @ OneMotherofaDay recently posted…{Friday Five} Things you may not know about me!
type a is awesome! i LOVE the challenges 🙂
Opposites do attract – I’m Type A too but my husband is so laid back. Probably better than having two Type As in one household, right?!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude recently posted…Back to the Chiro I go
yeah, i 100% agree with that, michelle!
I wish you could come over and watch movies with me and my daughter!
Cynthia @ You Signed Up For What?! recently posted…Friday Five: 5 Things About Me
that’d be pretty awesome! her tastes are right up my alley!
While I don’t watch PLL, I marathon-watched “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” last summer, so I can appreciate your viewing habits! 🙂
ah yes, another abc family classic!
Oh man I love that PLL. How the heck are they keeping it going for 3 more seasons though?!
Lindsey recently posted…Friday 5: All About Me!
that’s a VERY good question – i heard there were 2 seasons left?
