Friday Five: Five Things in my Gym Bag

Happy Friday, y’all! As always, I’m linking up with Mar and Cynthia and today we’re sharing Five Things in my Gym Bag. My bag is pretty boring but in the interest of full disclosure I’ve shared everything! If I’m going to the “gym”, I’m going to Pure Barre, so I have a random assortment of things! Friday Five- (2)

  1. Water. Like I mentioned, I’m usually going to Pure Barre if I have a gym bag. Water is a must! I usually don’t drink a ton of water during class but will typically drink my full bottle on my way back home or to work.
  2. Since I’m often going straight to work, I always carry things to help make me smell acceptable to be back at work. Here’s a secret that fellow runners will understand: in terms of showering post workout, my general rule is that it’s not necessary if you didn’t run. So I always have little wipes and deodorant and scented lotion. No judgment 🙂 
  3. Like I said, if I have my bag, I’m going to Pure Barre, so I need my grippy socks. I keep at least one pair in my bag. 
  4. Change of undies. Ya know, in case it’s an extra sweaty class. 🙂
  5. Gum. Not sure why but I always have gum in my gym bag. Anyone else?

    I know hydrating is important, but I just never do it during my workouts. I know most of the gals bring a bottle to Zumba, but I never have. Zumba is really the only “I’m GOING to workout” thing I do (everything else I just pop downstairs into my basement, which really doesn’t require much prep). Even for Zumba, I don’t really take a bag … but I do have to have my shoes and HRM. If jogging somewhere other than the treadmill, I need my music. I always have my iphone to take pictures of my Fitbit/HRM stats after my workout.

    I do always have gum in my purse!

    I agree totally about not needing to shower after a light workout. As you age, less showers help your skin, and I am all for that! The most interesting thing in my gym bag? I really don’t have a cute answer, but I always try to have a great attitude when I go for my workouts!

    I’m with you on the shower thing! Though I took a Zumba class once and that definitely required a shower before going back to work. Now I just stick to yoga for mid day workouts.

    Extra undies are a MUST. I even go so far as to bring an extra bra. I’ve been stuck wearing my stinky / sweaty sports bra all day = no bueno.

    I really need to look into a Barre class. They sound like great workouts. Those face and body wipes are a wonderful addition to any gym bag! I love those things. Have a great weekend 🙂

    I HAVE to shower after a workout, not matter how light it was. But then again, I sweat pretty easily! I usually workout first thing in the morning though, so I head straight home and hop in the shower.

    I’m with ya girl. I keep multiple packs of gum in all of my handbags, so there’s no need for it in my gym bag. But nothing beats bad breathe quite like a stick of Trident Winterfresh.

    I’m with you on the undies ! I usually go to the gym in the evening and prefer to shower at home afterwards. I can often run to the grocery store in between the two… too bad if I don’t smell great for a few minutes. Its not the end of the world !

    I don’t always shower after every workout either. This probably sounds crazy, but I don’t always sweat that much after yoga/weight lifting. Running is another story though. I’m usually way too sweaty after runs, so a shower is a must. Thanks for hosting!

    Nice list! I’m totally linking next week! I almost ALWAYS forget a change of undies! I usually run, then teach my classes at the gym (I teach group ex classes), and I seem to always forget undies and socks. Luckily I stay at the gym so smelly is acceptable :). LOL.
