Friday Five – Five Things I’m Excited About

April 28, 2016 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC44 Comments

Happy (almost) Friday (depending on when you’re reading this). With five Fridays in April, this is the second “free Friday” of the month. I thought I’d share five things I’m excited about. Don’t forget to check out Cynthia and Mar and some of the other folks who link up with us – and please don’t forget to link to your hosts if you are participating!

Five Things I'm Excited About

  • A month with no races (I think). I obviously love racing. It’s fun, good motivation and regardless of the outcome, I have a good time. However, I’ve raced quite a bit already this year and am looking forward to a month with no races and easy running before marathon training kicks off in June.
  • The Rising Conference. I just shared about this on Instagram so I’ll just share that with you. But, it’s gonna be awesome!!

Hey ladies! Whatcha doing May 13-14? Join me at DAR Constitution Hall for a pretty incredible weekend of worship, women and the word. Personally, I know I’ve been running around and working like a crazy lady and I NEED some time with my girls to recharge. Deets and registration info @therisingdc – hope to see you there!

  • Bird Camp! Woohoo -I’m going to Southern Bird Camp in May and I can NOT wait! I had such fun at Bird Camp last summer and am excited about this regional version. Yes! (FYI – Bird Camp is basically running camp for women who are on Oiselle’s Team. It’s amazing!).
  • More Pure Barre – and my first Platform class! I didn’t take Pure Barre the two weeks I was away and I did not love that. I missed it so much. I’m happy to have some more time (in theory) to take class over the month of May and to FINALLY take my first Platform class!
  • A clean house. Oh my word. We just got our house cleaned by professionals and it made me so happy. I’ve decided it’s worth the money for the stress relief it is to have someone ELSE help me keep my house clean. Because, um, real talk. I love a clean house but it is not my husband’s jam and that often causes, shall we say, friction? Lol. It’s the little things, y’all.

What are you excited about?

I’m not racing this weekend. I’m looking forward to actually sleeping and staying in bed past 5am.

We hired our cleaning service when my 14 year old was 9 months old. I’ve never regretted that decision EVER. My kids get pissy about straightening their rooms sometimes, but I’ve told them that if I have to get rid of the cleaning service, they have to clean the bathroom. They shut right up. ;o)

I think I’m going to hire someone to clean my home soon. I just don’t want to go through that and I have the disposable income to do it right now. Obviously I would clean on the daily/weekly basis but you know, a deep clean is what we need and I’m willing to spend a few hundred bucks on it.

It’s so hard to believe you have no races this month! There are soooo many here and I know you like to race a lot, but I don’t blame you for wanting a break before marathon training starts. You’ve had a really big year so far.

We used a company called Maids in Black and it was just under 200 – honestly, I felt like it was SO worth it, Amy Lauren. It was much better than me being all upset about our messy house! I agree about the racing – I almost feel like I’m forgetting something, haha!

Enjoy your month without races! I am just gearing up for some reasons, but they spread out quite a bit, but I still have some huge training blocks to get through!. Cleaning services are the best!! It is so nice to have a clean house, although mine does not stay that way along with 2 kids, 2 big shedding dogs, & a cat!!! thanks for hosting the link-up 🙂

I’m excited about heading to Atlanta for a girl’s weekend with my college friends next week! Oooh, having someone clean our house would be so worth it – actually I don’t mind cleaning except for the bathrooms and the windows! Bird Camp sounds awesome – what a great way to interact with other runners supporting Oiselle.

Getting the house cleaned professionally is something we did in our apartment and it was great!!!! We recently gave it up when we bought our house in an effort to save money but…..I’ve decided I’d rather give up other things. Cleaning this big house is just too much!! So we are about to do the same thing. Ha-ha

Sounds like you have a great month on tap! I have the opposite….two weeks of work travel. But then….a week long vacation! Wahoo!!!

I am with you on being ready for a break from racing! We had a cleaning service when the kids were younger. Having a dog makes that complicated plus my husband doesn’t like people touching his stuff — so even I don’t dust his stuff. 😉

So much goodness as usual!! YES to having someone else clean your house!! I have a wonderful, hard working, fun loving woman clean my house twice a month and it is the very last thing I would give up 🙂

Sounds like you have some fun things on your calendar with bird camp coming up. The month with no races is usually a good thing after a stretch of racing hard. I am also without a race for May and possbly June, but my body needs a rest at the moment . I am sure in a couple weeks I will be on the prowl for another race though!

I took a platform class a couple months ago and it’s definitely different. I like the regular classes, but if you want a good cardio kick in the pants, platform will do it.

Have fun at Bird Camp. Some day I’ll do something like that!

Cleaning services…I used a Groupon in my apartment a few years ago, I loved it! It may be something I’ll need to look into for a new house…

Hahaha I love the comment about your hubs and the clean house–don’t worry girl, it’s the same in my household! I’m pretty sure Brandon thinks there’s like a cleaning fairy that just magically does everything. We’ve used a cleaning service before and loved it–definitely nice to come home to a clean house and not have to worry about a thing! I think once I’m done with my half in May I’m going to try a pure barre class!

Professional cleaning would be so awesome. But with my husband’s weird work hours, it’s hard to schedule. I will soon have no races for several months due to the extreme heat and humidity here. I’ll try to enjoy that downtime, but it will be hard. Bird Camp sounds wonderful! Congrats on getting into Chicago. Good luck to both of us as we train in the summer heat.
