Happy Friday, y’all! Per usual, I’m linking up with Mar and Cynthia and this week we are revisiting an old linkup topic: 5 things to love about ___. You can read our linkup rules here. Please note that if you don’t play nicely, we will delete your link. Have a great weekend!
As we reach the end (how’d this happen? where did summer go??) of summer, I thought I’d wax poetic about five things to love about summer. Next week, when our theme is fall preview, I’ll be missing some of these things!
- You can run basically anytime of the day. Early or late, the sun is still up. Of course, I won’t mention the accompanying heat and humidity, but you kinda get used to it after awhile.
- Outdoor workouts! This summer I’ve taken a number of outdoor barre classes and it has been so fun to switch out environments for my workouts!
- The beach. Duh. I love the beach. Sadly, I haven’t actually made it to the beach this summer (I’ve been kinda busy…) but am planning to go in September. Yay!
- Fresh.Produce. Yes, yes, and yes! Just this week I shared my amazing peach blueberry cobbler recipe made with fresh peaches and blueberries and all summer long I’ve enjoyed the best farm fresh produce. My love of fresh produce makes me wish that I was a canning expert. Sadly I’m not.
- Amusement parks. I have a long standing (this will be the fourth or fifth year) tradition of going to Kings Dominion on Labor Day. The park is practically empty and it’s the perfect end to summer. We’re going again this year and I can.not.wait. I love roller coasters and depending on the weather we might hit up the water park this year.
What do you love about summer?
I’ll miss summer but I also loooove fall!

i love fall as well! college football, my birthday and cooler temps for the win!
I’ll *miss* the extra daylight… darn autocorrect!
Mar @ Mar on the Run recently posted…Friday Five: Blogging Conference Love
Yes to #1 and #2! And I live right next to a rocky Alaskan-style beach, does that count? Otherwise I am sadly going to say that I have not been to the beach yet either!
Kristen recently posted…Friday Five: Five things I Love About Seward!
time to remedy that for both of us! 🙂
I love reading a book in the sunshine! I feel as if I’m going something useful, just because Im catching some rays.

it IS something useful 🙂
I love being outdoors and all the fresh produce. I love all the choices of fruits we don’t get all year long.

the fresh produce has to be the best! it’s so awesome 🙂
I can go with you on the fresh produce – I can eat more berries than I thought possible. And I love the blooming flowers and fireflies…..but I’m really a fall girl at heart. Give me changing leaves, apple cider and a nip in the air any day!
Have a great weekend.

i also love fall but wanted to give summer a little shout out before it’s over 🙂
Where did summer go? It feels like it just started! There are so many things I love about summer: all the outdoor activities, the long days of sunshine, lazy afternoons at the pool…did I mention the sunshine yet? I got to put my feet in the sand once when we were in OBX at the end of May for my sister-in-law’s wedding, and I can’t wait to end summer next weekend in Virginia Beach and once again put my feet in the sand. 🙂

it will be awesome to do a little cool down in the ocean post race 🙂
I am definitely going to miss those peaches, watermelon and blueberries… but looking forward to the fall and the yummy apples that come with it. A bit sad that the days are getting shorter, but I love fall much more!

fall is great. i’m hoping we actually have a full fall season instead of summer to winter!
I’m really going to miss the extra hours of daylight. But it will be so nice to have some fall weather soon.
Haley @ running with diapers recently posted…Friday Five – Things to Love About a Running Group
yeah, i feel exactly the same way!
Oh my gosh! King’s Dominion used to be the highlight of my summers when I was a kid. I’m not so much a fan of roller coasters any more, but I still love the giant water slides in the water park.

the water park is pretty awesome!! 🙂
You gotta love being able to run at anytime in the summer! Though sometimes it is hot a humid, I take that any day over being cold.
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness recently posted…The Shoe Guide For Runners
i’m not sure which i prefer – the cold or the heat. honestly if it could just be fall all the time, that’d be great!
Some of my favorite things about this summer have been the cooler temps. I can’t even believe it is August (although I am scared for what that means for this winter). I love outside workouts and growing my own gardern.
Samanths @ Food Fitness Family Friends recently posted…5 Things I love about Racing
oh growing your own garden is awesome!
Summer is my favorite time of the year as well. love being able to sleep a little later and love the daylight. Haven’t been to the beach yet this year either.

beach is a must! i’m planning my trip for very very soon 🙂
I love we both wrote about summer! It may be hot, but I much prefer it over cold weather 🙂 I haven’t made it to the beach this year, either (does the lakefront or bayou count? lol).
AMP runs recently posted…Friday Five: 5 Things to Love About Summer
i know! great minds think alike! and yeah, i think both lake and bayou totally count 🙂
I couldn’t agree with you more on the availability of fresh produce, but I’m so looking forward to the cooler weather this fall!

me too!
yay for the beach!

agreed!
I have to agree with fresh produce, especially now that I don’t live in California. Drought notwithstanding, you can get all kinds of beautiful produce year round in California, and alot of it is local. Now that I live in Colorado, I’ve noticed farmers’ markets aren’t as plentiful as they were in California and that makes me just a tad bit sad.

Summer. RIP. It already feels like Fall around these parts – but I love fall, so no complaints here! My favorite thing about summer is getting up to the lake, munching on fresh blueberries and cherries, and going to food truck festivals!
Nicole @ Fitful Focus recently posted…Five Things I Love About Life Right Now
Ah, fresh produce definitely! I love running outside all year, but there is something wonderful about a cool summer morning wearing a tank and feeling the summer breeze on my arms!

I can’t WAIT for winter to be over here in Australia! Moving here in May, I didn’t get a summer in the US either! My favorite part… Just being outside in the warmth and sunshine! Makes me so happy! And def those outdoor workouts!
Nicole recently posted…{Friday Five} Things I Love About Being A Nutrition Consultant
outdoor workouts are my fav! 🙂
I haven’t made it to the beach this summer either, and I don’t really think I will :-(.
I have to say I spent the entire winter running on a treadmill/working out indoors. I just don’t think I’ll be able to do that again this year. Running outside is much better!
Elizabeth recently posted…Then and Now
oh i HATE the treadmill. i completely understand!
I DEFINITELY love the fresh produce, and then abundance of farmer’s market selections, as well! Great list, Courtney! Thanks so much for the link-up! 🙂

I love so much about summer, the things you listed are great! I love camping and hiking and getting a little fishing in the most and now that I am running again, of course that is a top one on my list!

I can’t believe how fast this summer’s gone by! Trying to enjoy as much of the fresh produce at the farmer’s market as I can!

Sweet watermelon. I had a patient bring us half of a huge watermelon yesterday and she had used a melon baller to make cute little balls out of it. As I ate it, I couldn’t help but realize watermelon is my absolute favorite food. I’ll be so sad when it’s not as sweet soon!
Cecilia @ MommiesRun recently posted…Sharing is Caring
YUM! watermelon is so refreshing!
I didn’t get to go to the beach either this summer! Lame! Next summer for sure!
Lindsey recently posted…Friday 5: A Happy Week
i’m not giving it up — determined to get there at least for a little bit!
I love rolling out of bed and going out for my run without putting on so many layers of clothes, hats, gloves, mittens, etc! This is the first year that I’m kind of dreading winter. Eek!
Have fun at Kings Dominion!
Debbie @ Deb Runs recently posted…Five Things I Love About Being An Older Runner
yeah the layers and the chill that takes forever to shake are my least fav things about winter running!
I love more hours of sunshine. I have so much more energy. Once it starts getting dark at 5pm again I’ll be a lazy bum 😉
