Editor’s note: I am in Tampa for a week-long work conference and asked the fabulous Emily to guest blog for me. Enjoy her take on fashion for athletes! Thanks, Em!
So Court asked me to do a little guest post for you today on work out gear. I got to be honest, it stumped me at first. I’m a grubby t-shirt and pair of yoga pants kind of girl when it comes to hitting the gym. I don’t put all that much thought into the clothes I wear for sweating and looking generally hideous. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely a believer in the old adage “you get what you pay for,” but that only goes so far and I just can’t stomach dropping big bucks on workout gear.
If you are a serious runner or sporty type, I get it. You may need specialized performance items, but for the rest of us – the I promise I’ll do at least an hour on the elliptical today types – save your money to buy a super cute outfit as a reward for keeping your promise. You really can get comparable items for a fraction of the price of the fancy stuff.
Porexemplo: One of these tanks is $16 and the other is $52. Can you tell me which is which? The logos on the jackets give it away, but there is a $150 difference between the two. On the left $20 from Target; on the right $170 from The North Face.
Want more alternatives?? I aim to please – bottom half stuff – shorts $15 from Old Navy vs. $64 at Lululemon. Don’t wear shorts like moi? Here some yoga pant options. Are you a $22 at Target or a $75 at The North Face.
I wish I had some easy options or alternatives for motivations to get to the gym, but I hope this has helped push you in the right direction. Stop by and visit me @ Capital Style for more witty, charming posts 🙂
