Easy homemade brown sugar body scrub

December 29, 2015 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC16 Comments

This is one of those things that almost seems too easy to warrant a blog post but it’s so simple that I just had to share! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that the other evening I made my own homemade brown sugar body scrub. It turned out amazingly well & I just couldn’t keep this one to myself!

Homemade Brown Sugar Body Scrub via Eat Pray Run DC. This is easy to make and so cheap. Leaves your skin super soft! I guarantee that you probably already have everything you need for this homemade brown sugar body scrub in your kitchen.

All you need:

  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of pure vanilla extract

Insert everything above into your jar of choice (I used a Ball Jar – you can find the one I used here [affiliate link]), mix and that’s it. Super easy and super quick. From start to finish, it took me about 5 minutes to gather everything, mix it up and be done!

These scrubs can be so expensive in stores & yet it is so simple and easy to make your own. You can of course play around with the ingredients and use other essential oils, whatever you fancy. But this base recipe should serve you well. My skin was so soft after using my scrub. I’m kind of obsessed with it! Just be careful if you put this on your feet in the shower – they’ll be so soft, you have to be careful not to slip! 🙂

Do you ever make homemade bath products? This was my first time!

I made one of these before and I agree, it was so easy and it made my skin feel so soft! I think I used lavender essential oil instead of the vanilla. I really should do it again because it seemed a lot better than the store bought stuff.

My sister made me a home made peppermint sugar scrub for the bath and I loved it! It sounds very similar to this and I loved how nourishing the sugar was on my skin. I love the addition of coconut oil in yours. I often use it as a moisturizer and it works great! Thanks for sharing, I will have to whip up a batch!

Yum – that peppermint sugar scrub sounds like it will just make the bathroom smell wonderful! I plan on picking up a bunch of different essential oils to make different varieties 🙂 The moisturizing factor of the coconut oil is the best!

I love this, Courtney! My skin seems to get really dry in the winter months (if it ever cools off for long – ha!), so this is a great idea!!

I’ve made a similar recipe before and I loved that I smelled like the best kind of cooke! 😀 I need to make it again for my dry winter skin!

I use coconut oil for everything (makeup remover, in place of lotion, etc) & always wanted to try my own scrub but was too lazy to look for a recipe. Thanks!
