Hunt DC

The Amazing Race is one of my favorite shows. I love watching teams run across the world, completing crazy challenges to try and win a million dollars. It has long been a dream of mine to compete on this show and I often spend a great deal of time evaluating if I’d be able to compete on The Amazing Race with __ (fill in the blank friend/family member/etc). This past weekend, I got to get just a tiny taste of what an afternoon might be like on my favorite show. A group of friends and I participated in an awesome scavenger hunt that sent us racing all around DC. Literally. We sprinted around downtown, chinatown, the national mall and columbia heights for four hours! While we love being active, we weren’t just doing this on our own. We were one of over 100 teams participating in Hunt DC. The scavenger hunt had us figure out clues (we were able to use our phones) and then race to a particular location in order to take our picture in front of said clue. For example, we had to find a former DC Comedy Club that serves over 50 different types of wings. The answer was Penn Social (formerly Riot Act Comedy Club) and in addition to getting points for figuring out that clue correctly, we also got some bonus points.

We had so.much.fun. And while we didn’t win the big prize (1,000) we came in 4th place out of over 100 teams, and so we’re pretty proud of that. I for one can’t wait to do it again next year…and take home the grand prize. That is, if I don’t make it on The Amazing Race first!

I wanted to do this last year, but I didn’t hear about it until it was too late. Hopefully I can be on your team next year 😀
