Happy July and Happy Fourth of July! I can not believe this is the first Saturday in the month. Time is just flying by, y’all! Anyway, let’s take a look at my June goals and assess how I did and then examine my goals for July. I am also linking up with Coco, Deborah, and Lynda for the Ultimate Coffee Date (tea for me, please). This week, if we were having tea, I’d tell you how I did on my goals for June and all about the goals I’m setting for July. Let’s dig in!
Here were my goals for June:
- Continue working on budgeting. This has been successful and needed, with some unexpected car repairs (grrrr). It’s something we will obviously continue to work on but June was a good month in that regard.
- Connect with family intentionally. This has gone well. I’ve talked to my parents and my sister more and also connected more with close friends who are just like family!
- Run every day. This streak has been awesome. I’ve run at least a mile every single day in the month of June and I’ve kind of loved it. My running streak ends today and I’m undecided if I’ll run on Sunday and continue the streak. I’m really proud of myself for sticking with this even on days when I didn’t want to run.
I’m going to give myself an A for June. Of course there is room for improvement but I’m really proud of my progress! Now on to goals for July!
Goals for July:
- Get in all of my long runs. I am traveling quite a bit this month, so I want to ensure that I get all my long runs in. I’ll miss my group run two weekends in a row, which stinks and means I’ll have to get those miles in elsewhere. I really really don’t want to miss a long run so I’m working on finding someone willing to run miles on end with me. 🙂
- Keep up with Pure Barre at least twice a week. Again, with the travel, this is going to be a challenge. Luckily there are Pure Barre’s in the cities I’ll be visiting, so I’m hopeful I won’t experience any setbacks.
- Get plenty of rest. I’ve been feeling pretty worn out for a variety of reasons lately and I’m hoping to focus on rest during this already busy month that is packed with travel.
What are your goals for this month? Don’t forget to check out my assessment of how I’m doing on my goals for the year here.
This month, I’m really going to focus getting my head in the game for marathon training. I’ve been struggling mentally, feeling a little burnt out with my job and feeling sad with the “empty nest” syndrome at my house. Ahhh, life.

Great goals, and great progress on them. My running goals are shot with this dang foot injury, so my goal for July is to stay motivated with other things and be patient.

Good goals! I am definitely going to work on getting my long runs in this month! And taking care of my body so I don’t injure myself with those long runs. 🙂

Good goals for July – especially remembering to get some rest! It’s very easy to just be in go-mode all the time. Have a great weekend!

Thanks Michelle – I hope you are having a great holiday!
Good job on those goals in June! I really hope you get that rest you’re looking for in July! I’ve been running myself a bit ragged the past month, so I should probably do the same!

I’m hopeful 🙂
Love these goals! I’m training for my first full marathon in Richmond (and congrats on being the blogger for the race!) I have a TON of travel July and August so trying to connect with a Black Girls Run group in my cities to get in my long runs to stay consistent. Happy running!

That’s awesome – Richmond is an excellent first marathon! And BGR rocks 🙂
I’d be willing to try Pure Barre with you! Not sure I’d be much help with long runs, especially at your pace… the Peachtree was *rough* after very little running lately. I can try to set up a run buddy? I would, however, be HAPPY to let you rest as much as you’d like here.
Hahaha, I think I may have a plan for my long run while I’m in Atlanta 🙂 But, yes I’m making you come to Pure Barre w/me. One of my former teachers now teaches in Atlanta, so yes, we’ll be going. 🙂
I really need to set some short term goals – I’m in the middle of pursuing some big goals, but sometimes it’s good to look at the small steps that get you to the bigger goals.

Great goals. I need to try Barre class again. I did it once but was so sore the next day I didn’t return. 🙂
sounds like great goals and a great month. Keeping up with family can be a challenge sometimes for sure! Keep up the great progress, Happy July!

Nice job this past month and also getting your long run in this past week! I should start thinking about my long run plans for when I am out of town in August. One will be in Vancouver!
