Maintenance Training Recap, Week 1

April 2, 2017 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC24 Comments

Hello folks. As I mentioned last week, I plan to keep up the training recap link up because it’s such fun. However, I had to give it a new name for me because I’m not actively training, I’m just in maintenance mode right now. I will still be running (and even doing a couple of races) in between now and when I start training for the Berlin Marathon. But I’ll primarily be focused on cross training and keeping my base level of running up. I imagine I’ll run a few days a week for the next month or so before training gets going. In that spirit, I will continue to enjoy all of your training recaps, so please do keep linking up! This is a low-key link up, but if you participate regularly, link back to this blog. Now on to my first maintenance training recap!

Spring Training Recap

Monday: 4.9 easy, slowish miles to see the Cherry Blossoms after work with Dawn. The crowds were out along with the blossoms and there was some speed in there to get around people. Boy did this help my legs – they were SO sore from the race the prior day.

Tuesday: Five easy, HUMID miles with my friend Jen. The weather made me really nervous about summer. Yikes.

Wednesday: 2 mile walk home.

Thursday: 2 mile walk to dinner in Columbia Heights.

Friday: Rest.

Saturday: 3.3 easy miles to the Cherry Blossom Expo and then to lunch. It was super windy but I found it funny that both my runs were just about the same pace (9:46). I guess I’m consistent, which is good.

Sunday: Cherry Blossom Ten Miler! This was such fun and a lovely day and another PR. Full race recap to come, but it was great!

Oiselle team

Total mileage for the week: 23.6 miles

Total mileage for the year: 392.68 miles

Is it spring yet in your neck of the woods? We are getting there with chilly mornings and awesomely nice afternoons!

Congrats on your PR today! I missed Cherry Blossom – I was supposed to run with 3 friends but they each had to cancel for various reasons, and I also had a lot going on this weekend and just wasn’t feeling it this morning. It was a beautiful day for it though!I was supposed to run it last year too and ended up being injured for it, so maybe I’m just not meant to run it ;)!

The PRs are definitely going to slow down because I’m not racing again for awhile πŸ™‚

Thanks – I expected to be able to PR since my 10 mile PR was a whole year ago. Yesterday’s weather was perfect for racing!

You’re on a PR roll. Congrats.

I would love to run where there are cherry blossoms – just brown here with still a little snow around.

    Berlin will be amazing…jealous.

Congratulations on your back to back PRs and what looks like a great week of running and “maintenance training”. I don’t really target specific races too often, so I just call my weekly workout post something generic haha. This race always seems like fun from the recaps I read so I can’t wait to read yours!

Jonathan keeps saying that he believes this summer is “going to be a doozy;” my response is usually, “I really wish you’d stop saying that.” πŸ˜‰ Big congrats to you, my friend, on back-to-back PR weekends; this is awesome! Can you do another one this week? I”m living vicariously over here, okay?

This mild winter also has me scared for what summer will be like! Love that first picture. I was trying to find a similar pic with cherry blossoms and the monument, but I guess I wasn’t looking in the right place. So happy to meet you in person!

Oh wow, another PR? You are crushing it! I’m glad you are keeping the link up. I love reading all of the recaps, and just see what everyone is doing. I’m also interested in what you do in your “down time”. I tend to be a bit lost when I don’t have a training plan. I can always use suggestions on that!!
