Maintenance Training Recap, Week 2

April 9, 2017 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC26 Comments

Hello from Chicago! I’m here for a few days this week for work and excited to get in at least one run while I’m here! As you may remember, I will still be running (and even doing a couple of races) in between now and when I start training for the Berlin Marathon. But I’ll primarily be focused on cross training and keeping my base level of running up. I imagine I’ll run a few days a week for the next month or so before training gets going. In that spirit, I will continue to enjoy all of your training recaps, so please do keep linking up! This is a low-key link up, but if you participate regularly, link back to this blog. Now on to the  maintenance training recap!

Spring Training Recap

Monday: Rest. That was kind of the theme this week and I’m not mad about it. I know that the ONLY way I can train hard for my goal races is taking a solid break in between training cycles.

Tuesday: Barre 3 – a great way to start the day!

Wednesday: 3.2 run commute home with Caitlin. Much needed and felt great!

Thursday: Rest

Friday: .6 mile warmup and then paced Kelly to a 5k PR at the Crystal City 5k series. 3.8 miles total. We did a little team photo shoot before the race and it yielded some awesome pictures, including the fierce one below of some of our local leaders.

team leads

Saturday: Rest.

Sunday: 4.6 easy miles with Chrissy. The weather was pretty perfect for running!

Total mileage for the week: 11.6 miles

Total mileage for the year: 404.28 miles

Have you ever had professional pictures taken of you in running gear? It’s kind of awesome!

I’m so thrilled that you were able to run with Kelly on Friday; you ladies did GREAT! Are you planning to do the rest of the 5K series? I’m always so jealous of this; it always looks like so much fun. I hope your trip goes well this week; keep us posted! Also, I’m glad you’re getting some time to take care of yourself and enjoy some running-for-fun (or not!); so important, I think. Talk to you soon!

Thanks Tara! I love this series but can only do this upcoming weekend. I’ll be traveling again for work so will miss a few. Super excited to hear all about your Seattle trip πŸ™‚

I love that fierce photo – you all look like badass runners!!

I hope you enjoy Chicago! I’ll be there at the end of June for a conference and I can’t wait. I love that city!

Taking it easy in between cycles is definitely the way to go! I wish I had more time in between my races, but at least I have a different focus for triathlon so it’s at least a little break from so much running.
How did you like the Crystal City 5k? I’m thinking about making it out for one or two…it’s been almost 2 years since the last time I ran a 5k and even though I’m not sure I’m in PR shape, I kind of just want to see what I can do.

I love the series – its lowkey and fun. That being said, start close to the front if you want space to really run from the jump πŸ™‚ I’ll be there this Friday, if you decide to do it!

I’ve never done any of the Crystal City races. Friday evening races just don’t appeal to me! Enjoy Chicago. I’ve got an overnight there in a few weeks and know a run will be the highlight of that whirlwind trip!

I don’t usually like night races either but this series is so lowkey that I love each year. πŸ™‚

Love the photoshoot – something about the intensity of your faces and the blossoms in the background make for a great contrast! I’m glad you’re enjoying these “easier” weeks.

That is an absolutely awesome team photo. I’m glad you’re enjoying some well-deserved rest. It’s so nice to enjoy a run when you want, as long as you want for a bit before the regimented training begins again πŸ™‚

The pic is really good of you guys. I’m glad you had a solid recovery week and paced your friend too- I know that had to mean a lot to her and plus you got some miles in. Sounds like a really great way to spend a run. My only professional pictures have been at races but I’ve had a few of those, obviously! I’ve never really thought to have someone take pictures of me in my running gear and I’m not on any sort of team… but I did have my wedding photographer take a pic of me with my running shoes on!

Running in the blossoms must have been so lovely! That’s so wonderful you are running Berlin. I’m hoping to “win the lottery” for London next year!

The change of the season is making running really enjoyable now. LOVE the flowers you get to see around there! Since my 11 yr old probably doesn’t count as a professional, I guess I have to say No that I’ve never had a professional photo session in my running clothes! πŸ™‚

I love that picture! You all look so badass! I saw you were at the fleet feet IL meetingup here in Chicago…I wish I could have joined, but it is too hard for me to make it downtown from where my office is located. Hopefully one of these times it works out!

Yes! It was super fun. I’m in Chicago fairly regularly for work but often have evening events so I’m glad that worked out. πŸ™‚
