Marathon Training Recap?

September 3, 2013 By: project30in201210 Comments

Well, the title of this one is deceiving because I only ran once last week since I was attempting to rest my ankles. So instead of my usual recap, I will share a few fun things from the long weekend.

I had a jam-packed long weekend and definitely could’ve used an extra day off but hey, what can you do? The weekend started off with a crab feast (and straw-ber-ritas!) for a friend’s birthday. It was a fun evening and who doesn’t love beating the heat out of a crab with a mallet??

Saturday was the first college football Saturday and another near perfect day. I went to a bbq in the afternoon then watched my beloved Alabama Team run all over Virginia Tech. I then stayed up way too late watching football (hello, did anyone else see that Clemson / UGA game?? Crazy.)…but that is what you are supposed to do on Saturdays in the fall!

Sunday was full of food and more football – but of the fantasy type. I have joined a fantasy football league, hosted by a couple of my great friends. I had an absolute blast drafting my team and although I know NOTHING about fantasy football, I’m eager to learn 🙂 Below is my team so far — I will be picking more players (free agents) today, though! I managed to snag 2 former Alabama Players – Roll Tide!

Finally, I wrapped up Labor Day Weekend with an event that has become a tradition — Labor Day at Kings Dominion. This is the fourth year in a row I’ve gone and it is always a fantastic time. What’s funny is that by 4pm, I’m absolutely wiped! I have no idea how my parents did this with me every summer. We used to spend ALL day at the park and then they’d drive us home. Parents are super-people. 🙂

All in all, it was a great weekend. I ran again for the first time in a week this morning and while I am still experiencing pain, I’m learning how to manage it and using all the information I’m getting from PT. 🙂

How was your holiday weekend? Did you get in any running?

Awesome weekend! Your fantasy team looks like a juggernaut, especially with the Texans D at the helm 🙂

We had a crab feast a week ago – it was so fun! I ran this weekend, took the almost-4yo in the stroller in the midday heat. It was brutal. I am so out of the loop on football these days!

I did run! I had a 10-miler on Saturday, and then I ran 2.5 yesterday (Monday). I also had my Fantasy draft on Saturday! Need to get my team in order for this week!
