As you all know, I’m (attempting) to train for two big races this spring. The first is the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler on April 7. The second is the Nike Women’s Half Marathon on April 28. I’ve been using a training program on my phone sporadically but there are some limitations. If I do a shorter or longer run on a different day, it doesn’t “count” it towards my training runs and it’s hard for me to make changes to the distance of the training runs as well. It also won’t track me on the treadmill. So, my training hasn’t been so great so far. Luckily, I started early enough and now that I’ve realized I need to make some changes, I have time to do that.
I just discovered that the Cherry Blossom offers a virtual training plan for free! This is perfect and I’m quite excited to start the plan. The plan begins on Monday, the 28th and while I will be out of town Monday, I should have no problem running because I will be enjoying warm 75 degree weather in Miami! There are beginner, intermediate and advanced plans. I debated between beginner and intermediate and settled on beginner. From what I understand (I won’t see the plan until early Monday morning), the beginner plan relies on the walk / run method the first few weeks, but I can just run rather than walking (because remember how much I hated the walk / run method). I’m excited to somewhat “restart” my training and get off on a better foot than I started.
