Now it’s getting real!

December 10, 2013 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC12 Comments

We’ve chosen a wedding venue! Choosing a venue was my first priority and I couldn’t really allow myself to focus on much else until I did that. I spent a lot of time searching wedding venues. I was looking for a place that:

  • Was naturally beautiful. I was looking for a place that elicited a “wow” reaction from me when I saw it. I wasn’t sure exactly what that might look like, but I knew I’d know it once I saw it. Our venue was the third place my mom and I looked at during a day o’ wedding planning. Instantly as we drove up, we both said…”wow.”
  • Wasn’t going to make me pass out because of the cost. Weddings are expensive. Weddings in the DC area for 150 family and friends are very expensive. We looked at places that were the full package and places that were just the space (and you have to bring in everything else). We realized that most venues were in the same relative range and that if we held our guest list to 150 (which we will be doing, so no hard feelings in advance, friends!) we could in fact afford our dream venue.
  • Had fantastic staff. Our venue comes along with an amazing coordinator that my Type A sensibilities loved right off the bat. She’s organized, up front about the details and fun.

So…where are we getting married?

We are tying the knot at the beautiful Hollow Creek Golf Club in Middletown, MD. I am so thrilled and can not wait for June 14, 2014. 🙂

Congrats on the first big hurdle being done! That’s not too far from my brother’s house, he’s an avid golfer. I wonder if he golfs there.

You’ve got one of the hardest parts out of the way! Congrats! It will be so beautiful! We had an outdoor wedding as well, on a lake, and loved it.
