Race Plan 2015

January 4, 2015 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC47 Comments

I’m working on filling out my race calendar for the year and thought I’d share what I had so far. Let me know if you are running any of these! Also, I am belatedly linking up to Tara’s weekend update – this post is more of a year preview than a weekend update but I love Tara and her linkup πŸ™‚ Go check her out!

race plan 2015

1/10 Al Lewis 10 Miler

1/17 JFK 20K

3/22 GPS White Hall 15K*

3/28 MCM 17.75K* – I really hope I get into this race for two reasons. First, it would fit my goal of an unique race distance for 2015 and, maybe most importantly, it would guarantee me entry into the Marine Corps Marathon. Fingers crossed!

4/12 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler

4/18 Northface Endurance Marathon Relay* I’m definitely doing this one, just haven’t signed up yet, but will be signing up soon!

?? Fit Foodie 5K*

9/20 Navy Air Force Half Marathon*

10/4 Wineglass Marathon – yep. I have chosen Wineglass to be my fall marathon. I’m pretty excited about it — now to just find a place to stay! Anyone run the Wineglass full and have any tips (race wise or hotel wise)?

10/25 Marine Corps Marathon*

11/28 NCR Trail Marathon*

I’d also like to fit in a sprint tri sometime during this schedule and probably a couple more local races as well. The list as stands is 11 races, not including the New Year’s Day 5k I ran (recap coming soon) and I’ll probably add at least three more races to make it an even 15 for the year.

I am not sure about the NCR Marathon. I really enjoyed it, which is why it’s on my list but 3 marathons in less than 90 days is a lot. However, I will most certainly run it if I don’t get into Marine Corps. πŸ™‚

You have a busy schedule! I have the Cherry Blossom, Parkway Classic and Ragnar that I’m already signed up for. I’m sharing a 4-pack of PRR races so that’s two more. Then there will be Lawyer’s Have Heart and probably the Army Ten Miler. Who knows what else the year will bring!

Great race schedule lineup! I have my first half in two weeks so I am pretty excited about that. I think I’m going to do 7 halfs and a few 5ks just for training purposes. Right now only one is out of state, San Antonio Rock N Roll.

I’m impressed you’re aiming for two marathons in October! I know that you’ve done two in a row before, but I’m impressed you’re going to do it again. Talk to Jenny about places to stay for Wine Glass since she did it this past year.

And I’ll see you at Cherry Blossom, as well as I’m sure some of the other local races as well.

Love the Wineglass marathon!! I ran it twice! We always stayed close to the start area and my husband drove along the race course with the car and we met up at the finish and drove back to the hotel. This is the place we stayed: http://www.daydreamsbb.com/ I recommend to book very soon, the hotels in the area are sold out quickly. Good luck!

Fun schedule – I’ll be seeing you often! 17.75K would be GREAT for a guaranteed entry, but I’ll be running LOVE Run Philly that weekend. Hehe…3 marathons in 90 days – would you moon up if you did it? As for Wineglass the marathon and half marathon is point to point (marathon Bath to Corning, and half Campbell to Corning). You get on a bus in Corning and they shuttle you to the start (luckily we were housed in a school for the half…I think the marathoners had chillier conditions). I know people stayed in Bath (but I don’t think runner drop off at the start was allowed) and drove to Corning to catch the bus. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Corning, which was about a 5 min drive from Corning and right off a major road. If you prefer staying within walking distance from the finish line a lot of people stayed at the Radisson Hotel which is less than quarter or half mile from the finish. There are also little Inns in the town that book up fairly quickly. Good luck!

Woo hoo! This is so exciting, Courtney! I get excited just reading this list, don’t you? Okay, a 17.75K race?!? Whaaaaa? You have to do it! That is definitely a “unique” distance, to say the least. So, if you do that one you’ll run MCM but pretty close to Wineglass…interesting. πŸ™‚ I’m so glad that I’ll be along for the (virtual) ride! Thanks so much for linking up this week; hope your Monday is off to a good start.

The Cherry blossom 10K sounds fun. I’ve always wanted to run a race in D.C. and I was sad when the Nike Women’s Half-Marathon D.C. race was cancelled. The Nike Women’s East Coast race will now be in a new city (to be announced)

Where is the Wineglass Marathon? I keep hearing about that race.

    Happy New Year!

I normally have a full year of races planned, but am going to wait and see how I do in the marathon in March – if I BQ there, will pick a fall marathon for fun, but if not, I will probably do Steamtown.

In May, I’m running the Eugene Marathon (my goal race), then the Chicago Marathon in October. I know there will be other shorter races sprinkled in there, but I haven’t decided those yet.
