On Sunday, I ran my first ever 8k race. I really wasn’t planning on adding anymore races to my race calender, but this race was special. I ran the Race to End Women’s Cancer to honor my dear friend Emily, who battled ovarian cancer this summer. Emily is pretty amazing and has been a fantastic friend to me for the past 4 years and when she proposed a group of us run this race, there was no way I was saying no. Even though I was just getting back to DC at 11pm the night before after spending the week in California. I really wanted to support my friend.
Also…we wore tutus! I have to say, wearing a tutu to a race is a pretty fun thing. I think I may wear mine for my marathon 🙂 I’m so glad I ran this — it was an emotional morning and I’m just so grateful for Em and her health.
This was my first time running an 8k and I had a great race! I’m in taper mode for the Richmond Marathon (eek! two weeks away!) and had super fresh legs. I just felt great and my race reflected that.
