This weekend was filled with running, eating, friends and church. It was awesome. Hot, but awesome. It’s been awhile, but I’m linking up with Tara at Running and Reading for her Weekend Update. Please go check her out. Tara is an amazing runner and an incredibly supportive blogger and friend. She’s great!
So, on to the weekend! Friday was pretty low-key. I ran a relaxed (hot) two miles with the Argonaut Run Club (mostly with my friends Karen and Scott). The Argo is one of my favorite local restaurants and began a run club this winter – every Friday night with 2, 4 or 6 mile routes. It’s always super fun and the people are so friendly. I love it but since I run long Saturdays I usually restrict myself to 2 or 4 miles. I had told myself I wasn’t going to have a beverage afterwards, but I was dripping with sweat so rewarded myself with a glass of riesling. It was delightful! 🙂
After running (and a bit of drinking), I headed home to have dinner with K. I had picked up a rotisserie from Costco and we ate that with some steamed veggies. Delicious! After dinner, I crawled into bed to read because I knew Saturday morning would come quickly. This week, my marathon training group moved our run time up to 6am, which means a 5am wake up. Not the best but necessary. I was actually grateful for the earlier start time because man oh man was the humidity insanely brutal on Saturday. I sweated buckets and the sun was barely up. It was not an amazing run by any means but it got done. And that’s all you can ask for some days, right? I’ve been doing my runs mostly with a nice guy from my group who is about the same pace. This week, we somehow ended up with a group of about six of us and that was awesome. We all tucked in and just got it done. After, I tried a new-to-me Larabar flavor – the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. It was delightful – I recommend it!
After running, Sasha and I headed to the Farmer’s Market per usual and I relaxed for most of the afternoon. Saturday night brought some more fun with Julie, Karen and their men. We had a little triple date night and it was SUCH fun!
Sunday was filled with church and meetings and barre class. After barre class, I had a moment of truth. I had told myself that if I made it seven days of run streaking, I would commit to the streak. Sunday was day seven. After Pure Barre, I was hot, hungry, and tired. I did NOT want to run. But…I did it anyway, so I guess I’m now officially doing a run streak? We shall see how this plays out.
It was a fun filled weekend and I am ready for the new week ahead.
How was your weekend? Have you ever done a run streak? Any tips?
