So as you know, I’ve been on a bit of a runner’s high ever since my 10 Miler last weekend. I have a half marathon in about two weeks, but after that I have no races on my calendar. I’d really like to do some fun 5 and 10ks this summer, but I have conflicts with the two I usually do. I am in a wedding the weekend of Race for the Cure (which is my absolute favorite 5k). I’m really quite sad to miss this, but getting to take part in a dear friend’s wedding will be absolutely worth it. I actually may be able to run the Capitol Hill Classic 10k. It’s on a Sunday and if you know me, you know I hate missing church, but since it’s just 6.2 miles, I think I can be home by 10am (it starts at 8:30) and make the 11am service. I was able to make the 11am service after running 10 miles starting at 7:30am, so I think I should be able to swing it.
But what about the rest of the summer? I would love to add a couple of shorter distance races to keep me motivated and running in the summer swamp-like DC heat. Anyone have any (local) races they do during the months of June, July, or August that they love?
I usually read your posts via email. However, I try every once in a while to actually come to your blog so you get a view from TZ
I love it – it’s my favorite part of viewing my stats 🙂
there are a few fun local races I’m looking at this summer. ZOOMA Annapolis is 6/1, Lawyers Have heart 10K (and they’ve added a 5k), Biggest Loser Run/Walk on July 14!
I’m thinking about zooms. I’m out of town for both lawyers have a heart and the biggest loser race 🙁 I just learned about biggest loser — so fun!!
Bummer! I did ZOOMA last year and loved it. I’m moving that weekend so on the fence about fitting it in.
