The Future of Eat Pray Run DC

October 21, 2016 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC36 Comments

Let’s talk a bit about my blog – Eat Pray Run DC. I started this blog in December of 2011 – it’s initial iteration was prompted by my upcoming 30th birthday (the blog was originally called Project 30 in 2012) – you can read my first post here if you want. I switched gears in March of 2013 and changed my blog name to Eat Pray Run DC and that stuck. So I’ve had this corner of the internet for almost five years. That is a long time in the blogging world and in life. I am a big believe in thinking about where things are going and lately I’ve been thinking about the blog and where it will go over the next five years. Of course, we plan and God laughs, but I do have a few thoughts about the future of Eat Pray Run DC.

the-future-of-eat-pray-run-dc

First of all, the blog isn’t going anywhere. I love writing and blogging and am planning on continuing to do so indefinitely. Yes, I know we just ended the Friday Five. But that has nothing to do with the future of this blog – and honestly, while it was time to end the Friday Five (3 years of a linkup is a lot!) – I miss it already. πŸ™‚

I plan on continuing to blog about my training and racing and general life. Honestly, I’m not sure what my goals are for this blog but I do love learning more about blogging and social media and I love that this corner of the internet allows me to do that. I also love having a record of my training and my various races. I actually regularly look at my blog to remind me of my times from particular races and the like. How do you non-bloggers track that stuff, haha?

So what can you expect to see here other than training and racing? The occasionally recipe or food related post will still make it’s way here. And honestly, an occasional post about something out of the blue. For example, I’ll be publishing some gift guides for the holiday season and make write some travel posts in the future if I take any fun trips (nothing currently planned but I could see it happening). I view the blog as a lifestyle blog, heavily focused on running and fitness. But I reserve the right to write whatever my little heart desires because #IdowhatIwant. Right?

Thank you all for sticking around and I hope this continues to be a space where you enjoy visiting. I’m always happy to have you.

I love your space and so happy to hear you will continue! Of course you can write whatever you want because we come here for YOU – not the running and racing (which is awesome but…) YOU are the reason we read and keep reading. Whatever you write is ok with me as long as you keep writing!

When I saw the title, I was all “Oh no, not another favorite running blog about the call it quits!” Thanks for sticking around. I love your posts – full of great advice and optimism! Looking forward to the new chapter of Eat Pray Run DC. πŸ™‚

Yay! I was almost scared when I read the title! Love reading your blog! I also feel like it is hard to “niche” my blog…I do a lot of healthier recipes, talk some about fitness/weight loss, and then a lot about my family and faith journey. So yeah. I definitely reserve the right to write about whatever I want too!

Like others have said, I too was scared when I saw the title of your post, especially since the Friday Five did just end. But I’m quite relieved to read otherwise, and can’t wait to continue following along! Your blog has always been quite an inspiration for me, and I love reading what you have to share with the rest of the world.

It seems like blogging is dying off for Instagram, but I love diving in deeper with blog posts and I also appreciate posts of all natures. It’s fun to get to know a little more of you outside of just fitness (although I am running obsessed so I do relate there, definitely).

I’ve also been spending time thinking about my blog and the direction I’d like to take it.
I’ve had CGR for a little over 3 years, and it’s evolved since I started it, and I think it’s only natural that it will continue to evolve.

Oh, you know I get it. My blog is my space. I still write about running but there’s so much life sprinkled in. I’ve been asked to be a part of a few linkups, but I just didn’t’ want to commit. Yep, it would have gotten me a lot of traffic but my fear is losing my voice. I’m good with where I’m at. Plus, now that I’m in Google purgatory, does the extra traffic even matter?

    Glad you’re sticking around.

I think it is completely normal to question what you want to do with your blog. Mine will be 3 years on January 1st and I am questioning the future and what I want to do with it. Sounds like 3 years is some kind of milestone / threshold.

Yep, you need to write about what you want to write about, even if that changes from day to day. I get tired of blogging almost every week for about one day and then I can’t stay away. πŸ™‚

I’m so happy to hear that you’re continuing to write! I’ve been hosting Wednesday Word for a year and a half and there are weeks where I’d rather write about something else or recap a recent race, but I’m tied to WW, so I hear you. I want to get back to posting more often…

I started right around the time of my 30th birthday too and I will be 35 this year so my space is 5 years old too.
I find they grow and change, but it is still nice to have that outlet.

Glad to hear you’re going to keep on writing. I love to read your blog, and a title like that made me worried that wasn’t what the post was going to say, haha. While I missed some of the end of the Friday Five linkup while I wasn’t writing much, I always loved it. The different weekly topics, all the other blogs I discovered, it was great. Look forward to reading all that is to come!
