The Magic of Christmas

December 27, 2011 By: project30in20122 Comments

Somehow I neglected to write “spend more holidays with my extended family” on THE List. It should definitely be there. And based on the wonderfully amazing and heartwarming three days I just had, it should’ve been number 1. Not only is my family hilarious and just as crazy as most families…they even provided some great feedback on my blog!

Usually Christmas at my house is a pretty subdued affair. I love it, but it’s quiet and usually  just mom, dad and I. This year, we had my sister, brother in law, 12 year old niece, 5 year old nephew and my grandmother. It was anything but quiet and I loved it. On the day after Christmas, we added my great uncle, his wife, one of my favorite aunts and one of my favorite cousins. That made it even more fantastic. Yes, it was crazy  hectic loud at times. Yes, my mother caused me to roll my eyes approximately every ten  two minutes. Yes, at times my dog would try her damnedest to escape the maddness. But, gosh, if that isn’t what Christmas is about (besides celebrating Jesus’ birthday), then I don’t know what is!

Oh, and thanks to my awesome cousin, I’ve decided that the “make one new recipe a month”  goal is being stepped up to once a week! Eek! I may have to rethink this. Can I really make something NEW each week? I suppose we’ll find out.

Whatever you celebrate, I hope you had a great holiday and enjoyed a few days of rest, relaxation and family time. We all deserve it!

Christmas was an awesome experience. It is not often that 4 generations are able to celebrate together. I am sincerely hoping that these extended family holiday gatherings become the rule rather than the exception!

Yeah, I totally agree! It was so nice to be with all the family.
