I previously discussed why THE List doesn’t contain any mention of romantic relationships. THE List also doesn’t mention any of my professional goals. That is not because I don’t have professional goals – I actually have quite a few. The reason they are not reflected in my list of 30 is two part. First, those goals are very fluid. I’m basically just trying to figure out exactly what I want to do when I grow up. Second, it’s important to me that this blog is open to whomever would like to read it and I would not be comfortable discussing in detail professional goals that may not relate directly to my current position. So that’s why I don’t have any professional goals on the list. What else is missing?
I didn’t list my wish to improve my foreign language skills. I tried to be realistic and actually list things I thought I could accomplish before next October. It is highly unlikely I will be fluent in any language other than English in the next ten months. Thus, “learn a new language” didn’t make the cut. However, I’m very optimistic that I will eventually learn another language. Perhaps, by following the footsteps of my good friend M and running away to another country for a couple of months. 🙂
So, what else isn’t on my list? I didn’t include the thing that most people put on their list of New Year’s Resolutions: lose weight. I guess I (like most of my friends) would like to lose a few pounds. I definitely try to eat healthy for the most part and I’m fairly active (between training for my half marathon, football on weekends and walking pretty much everywhere), but I’m not actively trying to lose weight. I honestly don’t think that much about losing weight, except during that first shopping trip where I’m trying on bathing suits. 🙂
Is there anything else that you were surprised not to see on THE List? If you had a list, what would be on it?
