Top Five Races of 2013

December 31, 2013 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC15 Comments

top 5 races

This year I ran. A lot. Without really thinking about it, I ran 13 races in 2013. I had some good races, some great races and a few not so great races, but I’m proud of them all. Without further ado, here are my top five races in 2013:

  1.  Nike Women’s 1/2 Marathon. I loved this race because of the great swag and the fun, primarily female environment.
  2. The Annapolis 10 Miler. This race was tough, no doubt. In retrospect, I probably shouldn’t have run it and ended up starting physical therapy shortly thereafter. However, I really pushed myself (for better or for worse) and started to believe that I could be a better runner. It was kind of a turning point for me.
  3. Clarendon Day Double. This was my first time running two races in one day and while it was tough, it was kinda awesome!
  4. Richmond Marathon. There’s not much more I can say about this race that I haven’t said, so just check out my recap. It was an amazing experience, in short!
  5. SOME Turkey Trot. This was my first real run post marathon and I PR’ed to boot! Can’t get much better than that!

What is your top race of 2013?

So many great race memories from 2013! I know Richmond will always be a great memory for you! My top race experience from 2013 was the Perfect 10 10K in Reston. This is one race I definitely want to make sure I run again in 2014.

I might check that out next year — sounds like a great race! We should definitely try and meet up at a race in 2014!

Every time I read about your races, it makes me wish I’d been a runner when I lived in DC. Ther are so many great races! I’ve run several times when visiting since then, and cannot wait to run Cherry blossom in April! Happy New Year!

You had such a great running year! My favorite race of 2013 was my marathon earlier this month. My 2nd favorite was the <a href="http://www.enjoyingthecourse.com/2013/08/monday-monday-2.html"Sprinkler Sprint I did with my husband on my birthday.

Great races! Without really thinking about it, my sister and I did 13 races this year too! We think you should add a Disney race to your schedule next year! That for sure would make your top 5 of 2014! Happy NYE!

Great races! It was my first year of running, so my first race was the best, but the Color Run was fun (partly because my 2 daughters ran with me).

My top race of 2013 also includes an Annapolis… the TSC Annapolis Half Marathon (despite the Navy Memorial Bridge). I am impressed you ran the Annapolis 10 Miler-August in MD it is a scorcher!

There’s a Turkey Trot in Arlington (http://www.ccapca.org/turkeytrot.htm) that benefits three local charities. It’s a lot of fun; very low-key.
