Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a relaxing day celebrating or just enjoying the day if you do not celebrate. As for me, this week didn’t go quite as planned – I cut a run because of hip pain and so that was a bit of a bummer but I know enough to know that one cut run won’t affect my training. I’m trying to be better about stretching post run. It makes a difference and I don’t do it enough! Anyway, on the this week’s training recap. Each week during this training cycle (I’m training for a relatively small, rails to trail half in March), I will share how my training went and what the week looked like. I do this because: 1) I love reading about how other folks train and 2) it’s great for me to have a record of what I did each week. Also, honestly, it helps keep me accountable when I know I’ll be writing about it. I also post almost all of my runs on Instagram as well. I’m starting a weekly link up for Training Recaps – let’s support each other as we train this winter! Please do link up!
Monday: My hip was really achy so I decided to scrap my run and do Pure Barre instead.
Tuesday: Track Tuesday turned into treadmill Tuesday – not nearly as awesome. 5X1000 – it was painful but I got it done.
Wednesday: Rest day is the best day!
Thursday: Tempo Thursday! Four tempo miles that turned into a progression run – 8:11/8:05/8:00/7:45. I’m not sure where that came from but it HURT. Badly, hahaha. Pure Barre in the evening.
Friday: Easy four with my friend Jess. Uneventful except that somewhere during this run I lost my wedding rings. So sad and such a bummer…however, that’s what insurance is for, right?
Saturday: Nine easy, COLD and rainy miles with my ARRC gals. It wasn’t awesome but was better than last week’s sleet and ice.
Sunday: Merry Christmas! Easy three miles before heading out to my parents place to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Total mileage for the week: 28 miles
Total mileage for the year: 1398 miles
Total mileage for this training cycle: 89.9 miles
Have a lovely day and be sure to link up if you are training!

That is so sad about your wedding rings! I’m glad you had them insured, though. Have you heard of Qalo rings? I got one last year and that’s what I wear when I work out and run. It gives me peace of mind to know I won’t lose or damage my rings. I highly recommend it.
I’ve heard of them. It’s an interesting idea but I’m actually pretty sure my rings came off while taking my glove off before the run – just one of those things, unfortunately!
Happy Holiday! Bummer about your rings. But you never know and maybe someone will find them and you will get them back.
That is possible. I’m doubtful but there’s always a chance.
I would be so sad if I lost my wedding ring. It wouldn’t be the cost, but the sentimental value. We had mine made before we got married. I’ve had it for 28 years!
I love my rings but they are definitely replaceable! 🙂
Oh no! I would be so sad too if I lost my wedding rings, but great that you have insurance and can replace them. I actually do not wear my rings running because I’ve always been afraid of losing them. You were definitely wise to skip a run if you were having pain. Merry Christmas!
I think they actually slipped off while I took a glove off, not while actually running. Either way, it’s a bummer but thankful for insurance! Merry Christmas to you as well!
Sorry to read that you had a bit of hip pain. I don’t recall you having any pain or injury ever. As I got older dynamic warm up and stretching became mandatory to keep injury at bay !
I am not currently training for anything. I am enjoying running a couple days a week and keeping my other workouts inside. Full body, HIIT, weight lifting… I needed the variety after a year of marathon training.
Happy New Year to you Courtney !
