As my close friends (and anyone who follows me on Twitter) know, I’ve been in a season of travel for work. I was in Miami, then I spent a week in Tampa, then I spent two days in Philly, then the day in middle-of-nowhere PA (youth retreat) and I just returned from Denver yesterday. It has been a crazy month (with K’s 30th birthday, our one year anniversary and my church’s women conference tucked in between for fun – oh and my 3rd half marathon) and I have to say, I think I have a bit of travel fatigue. I’m tired. I miss my dog, my boyfriend and my friends. I feel like my house has been a constant mess because I’m just not home enough to clean it. I feel like I’ve been planning catch up and failing miserably to balance everything that is going on. The one thing that I am proud of is that I’ve kept running. Even though I’m tired. Even though I wish I was running through the streets of Capitol Hill instead of __________ (insert city here). Even though all I usually want to do when I arrive in a new city is crawl in the hotel bed. I’ve ran. And I’m proud of that.
That being said, I can’t wait to be home later this week.
What do you miss most when you travel? Do you find it hard to keep up your runs when you are on the road?
I do find it hard but I don’t travel that often. Maybe there is a point at which you get used to it. Chris Russell over at RunRunLive gets his runs and rides in on the road. That always impresses me.
I find its a great way to see a new city. Nothing like a few miles to get a feel for a place. In Denver, I ran on the Cherry Creek Trail, which I really enjoyed. Go Chris!
