There have been times when I’ve wanted to (for various reasons) turn off comments on my blog but only on a particular post. Why, you might ask? Well, sometimes I’m writing a sponsored post and the company I’m working with has their own comment system that gets embedded in my post. Also, a number of bloggers I read have experimented with turning off comments and while I doubt I’ll do that entirely, I might play around with turning off comments on certain posts.
My problem came when I wanted to turn off comments on an individual post and couldn’t figure out how to do it. It’s actually not very intuitive and I was really annoyed at how long it took me to figure it out, so I thought I’d share how to do it (disclaimer: only applicable to WordPress) so you could bookmark or pin this post and have it handy if you ever need it. This guide on how to turn off blog comments on an individual post is so super simple but you’ll be grateful if this is something you ever seek to do! Here we go!
To get started, first click on Posts, and then click on All Posts. Select the post that you want to turn the comments off, and click Quick Edit. See below for what this looks like:
Next, on the far right of the screen you will see a box that says Allow Comments. Uncheck this box to turn comments off for this particular post. Make sure you click Update to save the changes that you’ve made. See below:
And that’s it! You’ve successfully learned how to turn off blog comments on an individual post. It’s so easy but it’s something that I think is strangely hidden. I wish WordPress would just make it super intuitive. No matter, though! Just save this post and you’ll have the information ready for if and when you need it!
