Virginia Beach Recap

August 7, 2013 By: project30in201212 Comments

Last week, I was lucky enough to spend a few days down in Virginia Beach with a bunch of my friends from my awesome church. It was an amazing time filled with food, fun, worship and incredible words of wisdom. I was in town to attend Wave Conference. Wave Conference is an annual event hosted by Wave Church down in Virginia Beach that is filled with fellowship, music and wonderful messages. In particular, this year we heard some great wisdom from Chris Hill out of Denver. We were encouraged to keep praising Him in the midst of being in a proverbial “pit” (whether that pit be illness, depression, loneliness, etc.). This really resonated with me because there have been times where something has gone wrong and I’ve allowed myself to wallow in it instead of keeping focused and remembering that “this too shall pass”. I appreciated the reminder to keep the faith even during times of struggle. I think that’s a challenge for most folks – it definitely is for me! Aside from his great message, Chris Hill was just plain funny. The man literally had me in tears. Hilarious. He was definitely my favorite speaker at the conference.

While not at the conference, I spent quite a bit of time on the beach. I napped on the beach, read on the beach and ran on the beach. Getting up early and running was such a great experience. Especially because I had views like this:

I love the ocean. I find it so peaceful to stare out at the waves crashing and so enjoyed having the opportunity to run with the beach as my backdrop. Of course after running on the beach my legs were shot…but it was totally worth it.  It was a great little trip. See ya next year, Virginia Beach!

Have you taken any fun getaways this summer? Where is your favorite place to run?

You lucky girl! That looked beautiful! So glad you had such a great trip!

We took a trip over 4th of July to Minnesota. We got married there 3 years ago on the lake and try to go back every year. There’s a lot of family there, and James gets to see his great-grandparents. That was our only summer travel, but we’ll take it! 🙂

I think my favorite place is on a trail, usually the new ones are the best. I haven’t ever tried to run the beach, but I did walk it – A LOT! I am native Oregonian and very spoiled by my frequent beach trips. One of the things I miss most about it. And we haven’t gotten to take any fun trips. I am slowly exploring what Boise has to offer our family. =)

I love running by the water, but I’m always so tempted to stop and jump in! Your beach picture is gorgeous!

My plan was to get in after the run, but I had to get back to our beach house. Next time for sure!

Thanks Emma! I’m so blessed to have found this awesome community of folks at my church — I even met my boyfriend there 🙂
