Happy Wednesday! This is my first Wedding Wednesday post as a married gal – it feels kinda awesome (okay, totally awesome). This week, I thought I’d share some thoughts as a (very) newlywed. Please take this with a grain of salt — I’ve been married all of ten days. 🙂 Per usual, I’m linking up with Jordon, Meredith and Mary and hope you’ll check out their blogs.
- He’s there alllll the time. This is actually pretty awesome. I LOVED living alone. Truly, I really, really did. But it is just so dang nice to have a true partner. Someone you share all kinds of stuff with. Granted, I still need my “me” time and sometimes I just want to sit and be quiet and work on my blog, but it’s nice having him there.
- It’s been really fun developing a routine that works for us. I also enjoyed our first married people weekend where we did exciting stuff like hit up Costco and Wegmans together. The great thing is while we do some of that stuff, we still do fun stuff individually with our friends.
- Speaking of Costco / Wegmans, I quickly realized that the food budget is going to be significantly higher than when I was just feeding myself! I love K, but man can he eat! The great thing is though that he loves everything I make and that always makes me feel good (which has the bonus of making me cook more). He is truly appreciative of the meals I make, which is awesome.
- Boys do weird stuff. I won’t embarrass K and mention those weird things but, let’s be real — boys are weird sometimes (so are girls, but whatever!).
Yes, I threw in some random wedding pictures because they are fun!
What did you learn early on in your marriage / relationship?
I know this comment is not wedding or marriage related, but I noticed you wrote about Wegmans. My sister OBSESSES over that grocery store. Is it really that good?!

oh yes. yes it is! it has a wonderful hot foods section, a great bakery (in fact, our wedding cupcakes were from wegmans), all your favorite name brands at great prices. wegmans is AWESOME. and deserving of obsession 🙂
Agree! I don’t have a Wegmans where I live, but we try to plan trips to areas where there are Wegmans just because we love it so much! Best grocery store!!!

Awww! Welcome to newlywed bliss! It’s great – and keeps getting better, so enjoy it you two!
I will add, if by “weird” you mean “gross,” then I’m with you. I won’t put my husband on blast here, but I’ll share some stories with you tomorrow!
Also, (at least for me) not only did my grocery budget increase significantly (BOYS), but my water bill shot thru the roof. For someone who doesn’t have long hair that needs to be washed or have to shave legs (like I do), my man spends more time in the shower than I think necessary!
yep, i mean gross. well, i mean both, actually! and YES! k also spends so much time in there — i’m like “what are you doing???”
Yes! It is amazing always having your best friend around! I literally don’t know what I would do without Josh. I have my own hobbies and friends but he really is the person who’s there for me for everything.

aahh – newlywed times – so fun… you learn a LOT about each other QUICK when you move in together & start that married life 🙂

yep, that basically describes it!
You look great and so happy! My hubby and I lived together way before we got married but I realized early on that it wasn’t worth getting upset over small stuff. Pick your battles and let the rest go.
thank you! 🙂
Just beautiful! I hope you share more wedding pictures!
oh i definitely will. i can’t wait to get our professional pics back!
haha, “boys do weird stuff” lol… 😉

lol – they do. boys are weird! 🙂
Boys do do weird things, lol. One of things I learned early on is that, despite the stereotype of women being more moody than men, men can be just as moody. They keep their emotions bottled up and then it all comes spilling out at once.
And speaking of Wegman’s, I have yet to set foot into Wegman’s, but our new house is 10 minutes away from the one in Fairfax. I cannot wait to finally figure out what the Wegman’s craze is all about!

you are so right! they can def be moody. and you will LOVE wegmans! it is awesome, serious!!
You were the most gorgeous bride!!! That dress was made for you! 🙂
My husband and I lived together for awhile before we got married so I already knew some of his crazy nuances, but there was something special about doing all those things like shopping, etc. when we were actually married. Or the first time someone called me Mrs. It was so funny hearing that!

thanks, friend!! i’m just now getting used to saying “my husband” – it was SO weird at first!
Hahaha I love the comment about Costco/Wegman’s – when I finally discovered Wegman’s I told my newlywed friend about it and she was like oooh yeah, we can’t go there anymore, [her husband] managed to pile on $20 worth of food from the hot bar onto his plate. I totally relate to needing your alone/me time – my last serious boyfriend, when we talked about what it would be like to live together, I said we’d need a 2 bedroom, so I could get away from him once in a while 😉

Aww the excitement of newlywed bliss!! <3 My husband and I lived together about a year before we got married but he asked my dad for permission and told him his intent was to marry me. So when we first moved in together, it was so new and exciting! We quickly learned that we were in this for real and that no matter what, if we had to leave for a cool down or "me" time, we both had ONE place to go back to–our home 🙂
