This past weekend was so full and so fun! If you follow me on Instagram, you saw some of the fun but I’m going to share more of it here. I don’t usually do weekend roundups, but this one was so fun that I wanted to share about all the weekend fun!
Zooma is one of my favorite races each year because it brings such a fun group of women together. BTW, you can still save 10% of Cape Cod or Florida by using this code: courtney16!
Since the race starts pretty early in the morning, I headed to Annapolis on Friday evening to make race day morning easier. And also to give me the time to hang out with some of my favorite runner gals. In the picture above, I’m joined with Erika from MCM Mama Runs, Cynthia from You Signed Up for What?!, Sandra from Organic Runner Mom and Sue from This Mama Runs for Cupcakes. We had such a blast. We hit up the expo, we went to the awesome panel on diversity within running (which brought up a lot of great conversations) and then we headed to the hotel restaurant with a great group of gals for dinner.
We had the best time at dinner. Great conversations and a great group of women. Plus a great deal of wine…that led to a really fun night! Luckily, most of us were staying at the hotel so we were still able to get to bed at a decent hour.
I’m going to recap the race in more detail later this week, but in short it was humid but fun! After the race, I had brunch back at the hotel with Colleen from Oiselle, Colleen from Live Free and Run, Lisa from Lisa Runs for Cupcakes, and Kara from One Redhead and Lighthouses. I did a bit of shopping in Annapolis before heading back home to DC.
It was a nice evening so K and I grilled out for dinner. After a little stoop sitting, I headed out to meet up with Cynthia and Sandra. We had a fun time doing a little bar hopping as we showed Sandra my neighborhood (she lives in New Hampshire). We had a really fun time and I was exhausted by the time I headed to bed.
Sunday was another really fun day. I’d set up a chance for a group of our local Oiselle team gals to take a BLAST DC class. BLAST stands for Balanced Level of Aerobic/Anaerobic and Strength Training. Their goals is to provide everything you need in just 60 minutes for a total-body workout.
Here’s some more info about BLAST:
While we are all about the community, the fun, and the awesomeness of working out at BLAST, we are also very much about the science. High Intensity Interval Training (βHIITβ) is an exercise strategy that alternates periods of intense exercise with brief recovery periods. HIIT training is the most efficient and effective way to build muscle, lose weight and improve your cardiovascular system. You will be burning calories and blasting fat long after your workout is over.
This workout is legit. You will be sweating quickly and profusely. The fun part is that so much is happening, that the class flies by.
We switched between sprinting and hill work on the treadmill (up to a 30% climb!) and heavy weight work and strength training on the floor. I recommend BLAST if you’re looking for a full body workout that will keep you moving and get your heart rate up quick. I’d compare it to Orange Theory Fitness – but I think BLAST is harder!
All in all, it was a great weekend!
What did you do over the weekend?
So great to see you this weekend! And boy was Friday evening fun! π

HA, yes it was! And I was SO happy to meet your wee little man. He’s so precious π Also – you ROCKED the race!
Fun Courtney! I may do the Zooma 10K next year for fun. I need to do some races outside of DC! Your wine night before the race looks like a blast, and it’s making me super pumped for the beer mile at Navy Yard next month!

Zooma is fun – bad news – I have to cancel beer mile – it’s my grandfather’s birthday so I’ll be out of town π
I ‘m running the Zooma Cape Cod Half. Can’t wait to run my first Zooma race and meet some fellow bloggers.

It was a great group of women – we had a blast!
Gosh, I want to be a Zooma Ambassador just to hang with all the awesome ambassadors! BLAST sounds really interesting. I am loving OTF and it is hard enough!
You’d really like BLAST. They are very similar – the “runner pace” for BLAST goes up to 12.0, which is a 5 min mile!
I loved seeing all your pics on Instagram as Sue and Sandra are two of my favorite ladies!! So glad you had so much fun and managed some workouts/racing in there too π

That looks like a lot of fun. I always enjoy trying new things myself, thanks for sharing!
We have so many awesome fitness studios here – I try to experience as many as I can!
FUN!!! I was in Annapolis briefly Friday to hang with Lisa and should have planned better to leave for Rhode Island from there but alas. Anywho, glad you all had fun. BLAST looks awesome! They reached out to me to try it and I just haven’t been able to fit it in my schedule yet but soon!
Yes – Lisa told me she’d seen you. We had such fun hanging out and running together! You’ll love BLAST! It’s right up your alley!
Seems like such an amazing weekend!
This post is the best because it’s full of fun pics of us having an absolute awesome time! Woohoo on our awesome ZOOMA & DC weekend!!!

You guys look like you had too much fun!!! π
Seriously, this race never fails to disappoint despite the course and heat…you know why? Because of all of the amazing ladies we get to hang out with! Wish we could do that EVERY weekend!!
I’d love to do a Zooma Race, but being in Iowa, we never get any of the big name races like that. I can’t afford to travel just to race. So I will stick to the races they have around here.
Looks like a super fun weekend thou!
